The Bioscape Moss Covered Log is a 20 x 6 cm hand-painted resin ornament shaped like a moss-wrapped hollow branch, giving fish a shelter and a swim-through without the unpredictability of real driftwood. It's non-toxic, rated for both freshwater and saltwater aquariums, weighted to sit still on the substrate, and ready to add after a quick rinse.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for freshwater and saltwater aquariums wanting a driftwood look without tannin staining or the pH softening real wood can cause. Not ideal where you specifically want a natural wood texture for grazing fish, such as plecos, to feed on biofilm — resin doesn't offer the same grazing surface real driftwood does.
Care and maintenance
Rinse under tap water before adding it to the tank. Algae growth on the surface can be removed with an aquarium-safe brush or scraper — being resin, it tolerates more scrubbing than real driftwood would.

Common questions
Will it affect my water's pH or tannin colour?
No. Being inert resin rather than real wood, it won't leach tannins or soften your water the way driftwood can.
Will it float?
No, it's weighted to sit on the substrate once placed.
Is it reef safe?
It's rated safe for saltwater aquariums generally. If your tank holds corals or sensitive invertebrates, check with us before adding any painted ornament.
Does it need to be soaked before use?
No extended soak is needed — just rinse it under tap water before placing it in the tank.
