Bioscape Nano Aquarium Unit Black
A 24, 40 or 61 litre glass nano tank with the filter and light already built in. The Bioscape Nano Aquarium Unit pairs a black-framed glass tank with a 3-stage internal filter and an LED light, so a betta, a nano community or a first shrimp colony can be up and running without sourcing filtration and lighting separately.
Key features
- Three sizes, one system — 24 L, 40 L or 61 L, all using the same style of built-in filtration and lighting, so spares and consumables carry across the range by size.
- 3-stage filtration built in — mechanical filter wool, a Zeo-Carb chemical cartridge and biological bio-cylinders sit inside the unit rather than hanging off the back of the tank.
- LED light included — fitted to the unit, no separate light fixture to buy.
- Easy-access lid — lifts for feeding and maintenance without disturbing the light or filter housing.
- Starter dosing included — a water conditioner sample, a beneficial bacteria culture and a nitrogen-cycle starter ship with the unit to help the first cycle along.

Bioscape doesn't publish glass thickness or the pump's wattage and flow rate for this range — if that detail matters for your setup, get in touch and we'll confirm with Bioscape before you order.
Which size do I need?
The 24 L suits a single betta or a small shrimp colony on a desk. The 40 L gives a nano community of small schooling fish more swimming room. The 61 L is the one to pick for a proper aquascape with room to grow, while staying small enough for a shelf or counter rather than a stand.
What's included / not included
Included: the glass tank, the black frame, the fitted LED light, the internal 3-stage filter (wool pad, Zeo-Carb cartridge, bio-cylinders), the hinged lid, and single-use samples of water conditioner, bacteria culture and nitrogen-cycle starter.
Not included: a stand or cabinet, a heater, substrate, decor, or a water test kit. Tropical community fish will need a separate heater sized to the litre volume you choose.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for a single betta, a nano freshwater community, or a first shrimp colony, in whichever of the three sizes fits your space. Not suitable as a marine or reef setup — this range is built and filtered for freshwater nano keeping, and doesn't ship with the protein skimming or higher flow marine tanks generally need.
Care and maintenance
Rinse the mechanical wool pad in tank water at a water change rather than tap water, so the filter bacteria on it survive. Bioscape sells replacement wool pads, Zeo-Carb cartridges and bio-cylinders separately by size, so routine filter maintenance doesn't mean replacing the whole unit — our Bioscape Nano Zeo/Carbon Replacement Cartridges and Bioscape Nano Replacement Impeller cover the two most common service parts.
Warranty
Covered against manufacturing defects under Bioscape's warranty, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Common questions
Does it come with a heater?
No. The Nano Aquarium Unit includes the tank, light and filter only — a heater is a separate purchase, sized to the litre capacity you choose.
Can I use it for a betta?
Yes — Bioscape markets all three sizes as suited to bettas, with the 24 L being the common choice for a single fish.
What filter media does it use, and how often do I change it?
A wool pad for mechanical filtration, a Zeo-Carb cartridge for chemical filtration, and bio-cylinders for biological filtration. Bioscape doesn't publish a fixed change schedule; rinse the wool pad at each water change and replace the Zeo-Carb cartridge once water clarity or odour control starts to drop off.
Is it reef safe or marine safe?
It's built and filtered for freshwater nano tanks and isn't sold as a marine or reef-ready system.
Does it come with a stand?
No — it's sized to sit on an existing shelf, cabinet or table rather than requiring a dedicated stand.
