Bioscape Tectona wood per kg

The same low-tannin Tectona driftwood, sized to your scape. Bioscape Tectona wood is sold per kilogram so you can buy exactly the amount of natural, coral-branching hardwood your aquascape or terrarium needs, rather than committing to a fixed box size.

Key features
  • Sold per kilogram — order the exact weight your scape calls for, from a single accent piece to a full hardscape.
  • Fine, coral-like branching structure — the same Tectona hardwood as Bioscape's boxed driftwood, mimicking coral heads and root tangles.
  • Genuinely low in tannin — settles in with less water discolouration than darker driftwoods.
  • Every piece unique — natural growth means size, shape and colour vary between pieces; photos are representative only.

Which quantity do I need?

There's no fixed weight-per-tank rule, since piece shape and how densely you scape varies enormously between setups. Buy a small quantity if you only need one or two accent branches, and scale up for a full hardscape wall or centrepiece — because it's sold by the kilogram, you can always order more to match rather than being locked into a fixed box size.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for freshwater aquascapes, shrimp tanks, paludariums and terrariums. Not intended for marine or reef tanks.

Care and maintenance

Rinse each piece before placing it in the tank. Tectona's low tannin content means less pre-soaking is typically needed than with darker driftwoods, though a short soak helps it waterlog and settle faster. Weigh down any piece that floats until it takes on water.

Warranty and delivery

Sold as a natural product, so variation in size, colour and shape between pieces is expected rather than a defect. Contact us if your order arrives damaged or doesn't match the weight ordered, covered under your rights under Australian Consumer Law.

Common questions

What's the difference between this and the 10 kg box?

Same Tectona wood — this listing lets you buy any weight you need, while the 10 kg box is a fixed bulk quantity for larger builds.

Will it discolour my water?

Less than most driftwood — Tectona is genuinely low in tannin, though a light, temporary tint is still possible in the first weeks with any new wood.

Does it float when first added?

It can, since it hasn't waterlogged yet. Weigh it down against the substrate until it stays put on its own — usually within a week or two.

Is it safe for shrimp and fish?

Yes — Bioscape markets Tectona wood as safe for fish and other freshwater tank inhabitants.
