Eco Tech Reptile Thermostat
Hold a safe, steady temperature and stop guessing whether your heat source is doing its job. The Eco Tech Reptile Thermostat is a dual-control electronic thermostat with a built-in timer, designed to hold your enclosure at a set temperature and switch a second outlet – typically lighting or ventilation – on its own schedule.
Key features
- Dual control – one outlet is thermostatically controlled for your heat source, a second outlet runs on a timer for lighting or a ventilation fan.
- Controls up to 1200 W – enough headroom for heat mats, ceramic heat emitters and most heat lamps used in a single enclosure.
- Temperature alarm – sounds if the measured temperature drifts 1–5°C (adjustable) from your set point, so a fault or a stuck heater doesn't go unnoticed.
- LCD display – shows the measured temperature at a glance.
- 1.5 m probe cable – enough reach to position the sensor at animal level rather than at the plug.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suited to controlling a single heat source – heat mat, ceramic heat emitter or heat lamp – up to 1200 W total load, with a second timed outlet for lighting or a fan.
- Not a dimming or pulse-proportional thermostat for delicate heat mats that require gentle cycling – check your heat source's own instructions for the thermostat type it needs.
Safety
Mains-powered – connect to a switched outlet with RCD (safety switch) protection, and position the probe so it reads air or surface temperature rather than resting directly against the heat source. Do not exceed the 1200 W maximum load. If the alarm sounds, check the enclosure temperature and heat source promptly rather than resetting and waiting.
Warranty and delivery
Manufacturer's warranty applies in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Contact Nick's Aquarium Oceanarium Terrarium if the unit arrives faulty or stops holding temperature correctly.
Common questions
Can I run a heat mat and a heat lamp off this at the same time?
Only through the single thermostatically-controlled outlet, and only if their combined load stays under 1200 W. The second outlet is for lighting or a fan on a timer, not a second thermostatically-controlled heat source.
Where should I put the probe?
Position it at the level your animal actually experiences – typically the warm end basking surface or nearby air space – rather than near the thermostat unit itself.
What does the alarm mean?
It means the measured temperature has drifted outside your set difference (1–5°C, adjustable) from the target. Treat it as a prompt to check the heat source and probe placement, not something to silence and ignore.
