This is the Large Bamboo Forest Kit. Exo Terra also sells a Small Bamboo Forest Kit built around the 30 x 30 x 45 cm Natural Terrarium Mini/Tall, with a scaled-down Compact Top Mini fixture and Moss Mat Mini. Choose the Large kit for adult crested geckos, larger day geckos, tree frogs and similarly sized arboreal species that need vertical climbing room; the Small kit suits juveniles and smaller arboreal species.

At 60 cm tall with full front access and a mesh top rated for UVB and infrared penetration, this terrarium is built for species that climb rather than burrow. Before adding a heat lamp or UVB bulb, check the minimum mounting distance printed on that bulb's packaging against the terrarium's internal height – glass terrariums lose a small amount of internal height to the glass and mesh top compared with the external measurement.

Suited to arboreal and semi-arboreal reptiles and amphibians that want height and climbing surfaces – crested geckos, day geckos, anoles and tree frog species sized for a 45 x 45 x 60 cm footprint. Not intended as a fully bioactive or high-humidity paludarium setup without additional waterproofing and drainage layers, and not sized for large monitors, adult bearded dragons or other ground-dwelling species that need floor space over height.

The terrarium itself carries no mains electrics. Once you add a heat source, UVB bulb or any powered accessory, use a 240 V AU-approved fitting, run it through a thermostat rated for the wattage installed, and route cabling through the closable ports rather than leaving a door gap. A guard is recommended on any heat bulb the animal can reach.

Carries the Exo Terra manufacturer warranty against defects in the glass terrarium and included fixtures, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Does this kit include a heat lamp or UVB bulb?

No. The kit includes the light fixture canopy (Compact Top Small) but not the bulb itself – choose a heat or UVB bulb to suit the species you're keeping and fit it into the included fixture.

Can I use this for a bioactive setup?

The raised waterproof base and mesh top are a reasonable starting point, but the included moss mat is a display substrate rather than a full bioactive layer – most keepers add a drainage layer and a deeper substrate mix before going bioactive.

What species is the Large kit sized for?

Its 45 x 45 x 60 cm footprint suits adult crested geckos, day geckos and similarly sized climbing species. Check your species' care sheet for minimum enclosure size before buying.

Is the background waterproof?

The bamboo background panel is designed for terrarium humidity levels; avoid enclosed high-humidity misting systems that pool water directly against it for extended periods.

What's the difference between this and the Small Bamboo Forest Kit?

The Small kit is built around the 30 x 30 x 45 cm Natural Terrarium Mini/Tall with a Compact Top Mini fixture and Moss Mat Mini – a scaled-down version of this Large kit for smaller species or younger animals.
