Exo Terra Cricket Feeder
Dust every cricket the same way, every time. The Exo Terra Cricket Feeder – sold by the manufacturer as the Feeding Rock – is a two-piece hollow rock that coats live crickets in supplement powder before they go into the terrarium, then lets them out gradually through a removable plug instead of dumping the whole batch loose on the substrate.
Key features
- Built-in dusting chamber – pour calcium or vitamin powder into the deeper half, add crickets, fit the two halves together and shake gently to coat them evenly.
- Controlled release – position the rock in the terrarium and remove the plug so crickets emerge a few at a time rather than scattering everywhere at once.
- Reduces wasted supplement – excess powder stays in the chamber for the next feed instead of falling into the substrate.
- Natural rock look – sits in the terrarium as a decor piece between feeds, not just a feeding tool.
- Easy to clean – two-piece construction opens fully for rinsing.

Feeding and directions
Pour an ultra-fine calcium or vitamin powder into the deeper half of the rock. Add up to 10–20 live crickets, sized to suit your animal. Fit the two halves together and shake gently until the crickets are visibly coated. Place the rock in the terrarium and remove the plug so your animal can hunt the crickets as they emerge.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suited to insectivorous reptiles and amphibians fed live crickets or similarly sized feeder insects. Not a long-term cricket holding pen – for keeping a batch of crickets alive between feeds, pair it with a Cricket Pen.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by your rights under Australian Consumer Law as a packaged terrarium accessory. Ships standard.
Goes well with
- An Exo Terra Cricket Pen, to hold your live cricket supply between feeds
- A calcium or multivitamin reptile dusting powder
- Gut-loading food for the crickets themselves, so the dust isn't the only nutrition boost they're carrying
Common questions
Is this the same as the Cricket Pen?
No. The Cricket Pen is a housing unit for keeping a batch of live crickets between feeds. The Feeding Rock/Cricket Feeder is a dusting-and-release tool used at feeding time.
How many crickets can I dust at once?
Around 10 to 20, depending on their size – dust smaller batches for adult-sized crickets and you can go toward the higher end for small nymphs.
Does it stop crickets hiding in the substrate?
It helps, because crickets emerge from the rock gradually rather than being tipped in all at once, but any live crickets not eaten promptly can still burrow into loose substrate.
