Exo Terra Dart Frog Small Wide Terrarium - 45 X 45 X 45cm
A wide, humid glass habitat built for bioactive planting. The Exo Terra Dart Frog Small Wide Terrarium is a 45 x 45 x 45 cm all-glass enclosure with a waterproof, drained base, purpose-built for dart frogs, other small amphibians and humid bioactive builds. The front-opening door and top mesh panel work together to hold humidity while still keeping air moving, and the footprint suits a wide, ground-level layout rather than height.
Key features
- 45 x 45 x 45 cm all-glass build – a wide, even footprint suited to ground-dwelling and climbing dart frogs alike.
- Single front-opening door with a push-button lock – full access for maintenance without disturbing the whole setup.
- Dual ventilation system – a stainless steel mesh panel at the rear works with the front glass to reduce condensation on the viewing pane while still keeping humidity in.
- Waterproof base with a built-in drain – comes with 1.2 m of tubing, an elbow connector and a tap valve, so water changes on a bioactive substrate don't mean lifting the whole tank.
- Hinged, lockable top cover – secure access from above for planting, feeding and fixture mounting.
- Four self-closing cable and tubing inlets – routes probes, misting lines and power leads without leaving gaps.

What's included, and what you'll still need
The terrarium ships as the glass enclosure itself: door, top cover, mesh panel, waterproof drained base and the drain kit. It does not include substrate, background, decor, heating, lighting, a thermostat or a thermometer/hygrometer – put those together to match the species you're keeping.
- Included: glass terrarium, hinged lockable top, front-opening lockable door, rear mesh ventilation panel, waterproof drained base, 1.2 m drain tubing with elbow connector and tap valve, four self-closing cable inlets.
- Not included: substrate, background, live plants and hardscape, heating, lighting, thermostat, thermometer/hygrometer, decor and hides.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suited to dart frogs, small tree frogs and other humidity-loving amphibians, plus bioactive planted builds that benefit from a wide, ground-level footprint and easy drainage. Less suited to reptiles or amphibians that need real height for climbing, or to species that do best in a dry, low-humidity setup, since the waterproof drained base is built around wet, planted layouts.
Care and maintenance
Use the tap valve on the drain line to run water changes on a bioactive substrate without disturbing plants or animals. Wipe down the front glass as needed – the dual ventilation system reduces condensation but won't eliminate it in a heavily misted setup. Check the mesh panel periodically for substrate dust build-up, which can restrict airflow over time.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by your rights under Australian Consumer Law. As a glass enclosure, handle with care during unpacking and setup – inspect on arrival before adding substrate or livestock.
Goes well with
- A compact terrarium light suited to planted, humid setups
- A thermostat-controlled heat source matched to your species' needs
- A digital thermometer/hygrometer to monitor conditions once it's running
- Bioactive substrate and clean-up crew for a self-sustaining setup
Common questions
Does this terrarium include a light or heater?
No. It's sold as the glass enclosure only – you'll need to add lighting and heating suited to the species you're keeping.
Can I run a bioactive substrate in this terrarium?
Yes. The waterproof, drained base and built-in tap valve are designed for exactly that, making water changes straightforward without disturbing the substrate layer.
Is this terrarium tall enough for climbing species?
At 45 cm high with a 45 x 45 cm footprint, it's built as a wide format rather than a tall one. It suits ground-dwelling and moderately climbing amphibians better than species that need significant vertical space.
How do I stop condensation building up on the front glass?
The dual ventilation system between the rear mesh and the front glass is designed to reduce this, but in a heavily misted bioactive setup some condensation is normal and can be wiped away.
What's the drain kit used for?
The included 1.2 m tubing, elbow connector and tap valve connect to the base drain, letting you run water out of the enclosure for water changes without lifting or tilting the tank.
