The Small Tall shares its 45 x 45 cm floor footprint with the Small Wide (45 x 45 x 45 cm) — the difference is 15 cm of extra height. Choose the Tall for species that climb, perch or need vertical space to move between a basking spot and a cooler lower zone; choose the Wide where a species spends most of its time on the ground and the extra height would go unused.

Suited to arboreal and semi-arboreal reptiles and amphibians that use vertical space — climbing geckos, tree frogs and similar species — and to humidity-loving species, since ventilation runs through the screen top rather than mesh side panels.

Not suitable as a permanent aquatic tank — the waterproof base supports a shallow water feature or paludarium build, not full-depth aquatic housing. Not the right choice for strictly terrestrial species that won't use the extra height, or for species needing strong cross-ventilation.

You'll still need: a heat source and, for diurnal species, UVB lighting sized and positioned per that lamp's own gradient chart, a thermostat to control it, substrate, a water dish and climbing decor such as vines or cork bark.

Open one door at a time when spot-cleaning to reduce escape risk. Lift the mesh top clear for full access when changing substrate, watering plants or rearranging climbing decor. Wipe the glass and the rock background panel as part of your regular clean, and check that vines or cork bark fixed to the background remain secure.

Covered by your rights under Australian Consumer Law as a manufactured glass product, in addition to any Exo Terra manufacturer warranty. It's a large glass enclosure — inspect it for transit damage before you unpack it fully, and keep the packaging until you're sure everything has arrived intact.

Does the extra height need a taller stand?

Not necessarily — check the enclosure's footprint (45 x 45 cm) against your existing stand or cabinet; only the terrarium's own height changes between the Wide and Tall models, not the floor space it needs.

Is the Small Tall better for climbing species than the Small Wide?

Yes, if your species actively climbs or needs a temperature gradient between a high basking spot and a cooler lower zone. For ground-dwelling species the extra height isn't necessary.

Does this terrarium include heating or lighting?

No. It ships with the terrarium unit, mesh screen top and Rock Terrarium Background fitted — heating, UVB lighting, a thermostat and substrate are added separately for your species.

Can I mount vines or cork bark against the background?

Yes — the Rock Terrarium Background is textured resin designed to anchor climbing decor, vines and epiphytic plants.

Will a clip-on UVB or heat lamp fit the screen top?

Yes — the removable stainless steel mesh top takes standard clip-on fixtures. Mount the lamp at the distance given on its own heat or UV gradient chart.
