Exo Terra Terrarium Rainforest Habitat Kit Small 30 x 30 x 45cm
Everything but the animal, sized for a genuinely small tropical species. The Exo Terra Rainforest Habitat Kit (Small, PT2660) pairs a 30 × 30 × 45 cm front-opening glass terrarium with a rock background, substrate, jungle-style planting and a lighting canopy – built for keepers whose species doesn't need, or shouldn't have, a large enclosure.
What's included
- Exo Terra Glass Terrarium, 30 × 30 × 45 cm, with dual front-opening doors and full screen top ventilation
- Compact Top canopy – a lighting fixture with reflector, fitted for the Exo Terra Repti Glo range of compact fluorescent bulbs
- Rock-effect terrarium background
- Water dish (small)
- Plantation soil substrate
- Jungle Plant Croton and Jungle Plant Amapallo (artificial jungle-style plants)
- Jungle Vine, medium
- Jungle Fern, small
- Hygrometer and thermometer
- Instruction manual
What you'll still need
- A heat source – no heat mat, ceramic heat emitter or basking lamp is included. Confirm what your species needs before setup; a 30 × 30 × 45 cm enclosure heats and cools faster than a larger one, so gentle, well-controlled heat matters more here, not less.
- A compact fluorescent bulb for the Compact Top – Exo Terra's own materials describe the canopy as a fixture built for its Repti Glo compact fluorescent bulbs, but don't state plainly whether a bulb ships in the box. Check at checkout, or contact us before you buy.
- Additional live plants or decor, beyond the two included jungle plants, if you want denser planting.
- A misting routine to hold rainforest humidity – none is included.
Which size do I need?
| Kit | Dimensions | Part number | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | 30 × 30 × 45 cm | PT2660 | Anoles, smaller day geckos, dwarf chameleons and similar small climbing species, or juveniles of larger species short-term |
| Medium Tall | 45 × 45 × 60 cm | PT2662 | Crested geckos, White's tree frogs, red-eyed tree frogs and similar mid-sized climbing species |
Both kits share the same door design, screen top and Compact Top canopy. Don't size up "for safety" – a Small kit is deliberately compact for species that do better in a smaller footprint, where food is easier to find and the animal isn't left exposed in open space it can't fill.
Suitable for – and not suitable for
Suited to genuinely small arboreal or semi-arboreal species – Exo Terra names anoles and similar small day geckos, dwarf species and small frogs as good fits, and notes it also suits juveniles of larger species as temporary housing while they grow. Not suitable as a permanent adult enclosure for any species that will outgrow a 30 × 30 × 45 cm footprint, and not supplied as a bioactive or aquatic paludarium setup.
Setup and use
Fit the rock background and decor before adding substrate, then introduce humidity gradually with regular misting once the enclosure is planted. The full screen top is designed to let UVB from a lamp mounted above it reach the animal, rather than filtering it the way solid glass or plastic mesh would.
Safety
Mount any heat or UVB bulb you add at the distance stated in that bulb's own Exo Terra specification – the correct distance depends on the specific bulb, not on this terrarium. In an enclosure this size, a bulb mounted too close can create a hot zone with nowhere for the animal to retreat from it; always leave a genuinely cooler area at the opposite end. Use a thermostat with any heat-emitting bulb.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by the standard consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law, in addition to any manufacturer term. Ships from our Brisbane / North Lakes warehouse.
Common questions
Is this kit big enough for an adult crested gecko?
Exo Terra's own guidance points larger climbing species like crested geckos toward the Medium Tall kit; the Small kit suits genuinely small species such as anoles and small day geckos, or juveniles temporarily.
Does it include a heat source?
No – you'll need to add a heat mat, lamp or ceramic heat emitter suited to your species.
Is a light bulb included with the canopy?
Exo Terra's materials describe the Compact Top as built for its Repti Glo compact fluorescent bulbs but don't confirm a bulb ships in the box. Ask us before ordering if that matters to you.
Can I keep a dart frog in this kit?
Check the species list carefully – Exo Terra's dedicated Dart Frog Terrarium is a different, purpose-built enclosure, and this rainforest kit is not marketed specifically for dart frogs.
