Exo Terra Tree Frog Small Tall Terrarium - 45 X 45 X 60cm
A tall glass home built for climbers, not crawlers. The Exo Terra Tree Frog Terrarium (45 x 45 x 60 cm) is a front-opening glass enclosure with the vertical height arboreal species need, a raised waterproof base for a water feature, and the dual top-and-front ventilation Exo Terra uses across its terrarium range.
Key features
- 60 cm internal height — built tall rather than wide, for species that climb and perch rather than burrow.
- Raised, waterproof base — holds a shallow water feature or dish at the front without leaking; includes a bottom drain, 1.2 m of tubing, an elbow connector and a tap valve for water changes.
- Front-opening door with push-button lock — full access for cleaning and handling without lifting the lid.
- Dual ventilation — a stainless-steel mesh strip at the rear plus a full mesh top creates upward airflow, which Exo Terra states helps stop condensation forming on the front glass.
- Four self-closing cable and tubing inlets — route a heat mat cable, misting line or probe wire through the rear panel without leaving a gap.
- Mesh top rated for lamps — the full-mesh lid lets UVB and infrared through, so heat and UV fixtures sit on top rather than inside the enclosure.

Will it fit my setup — mounting distance for heat and UVB
The full 60 cm internal height is available for lamp placement before substrate, water depth or décor height come off the top. Because the mesh lid sits above the enclosure rather than inside it, your actual basking or UVB distance is measured from the lamp, through the mesh, down to wherever the animal actually perches — not from the very top of the glass. Check the specific heat globe, ceramic heat emitter or UVB lamp's own temperature-by-distance or UV-index-by-distance table against that perch height, rather than against the enclosure's total height alone.
Suitable for — and not suitable for
Exo Terra markets this size for tree frogs, reed frogs, dart frogs, small geckos and lizards, and garter and grass snakes — species that use height and climbing space more than floor area. It's not the right shape for ground-dwelling species that need floor area over height, and the raised waterproof base is sized for a water feature or shallow dish, not a full aquatic setup.
What's included — and what you'll still need
The enclosure ships with its bottom drain assembly, 1.2 m of drain tubing, an elbow connector and a tap valve. It does not include lighting, heating, a thermostat, substrate, background or décor — all of which need to be chosen for the species going in, with any heat or UVB fixture chosen against its own gradient table rather than guessed.
Safety
- Route any heat mat, probe or misting line through the self-closing inlets rather than through the door seal or ventilation mesh.
- Use a thermostat with any heat source mounted on or in this enclosure — the terrarium itself has no built-in temperature control.
- Check the push-button door lock is engaged for species capable of pushing or lifting a loose door.
Care and maintenance
The bottom drain and tap valve mean water changes don't require lifting the whole enclosure — connect the included tubing and drain the waterproof base directly. Wipe down the front glass and mesh top during routine cleaning; the mesh top is what stops humidity condensing on the viewing glass, so keeping it clear of dust helps it keep doing that job.
Goes well with
- A UVB lamp and heat source sized to this enclosure and to your species' needs, chosen against their own published gradient tables.
- A thermostat matched to the wattage of whatever heat source you fit.
- Substrate and background suited to the species going in — bioactive setups in particular need substrate depth planned before the animal arrives.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by the standard consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law, in addition to any manufacturer term. Ships from our Brisbane / North Lakes warehouse — as a glass enclosure, allow this one a little extra care in transit.
Common questions
Is this terrarium suitable for aquatic turtles?
No. The raised base holds a shallow water feature or dish, not a full aquatic environment — it's built for climbing species that need height, not animals that need to swim.
Does it come with lighting or heating?
No. It ships with the drain assembly, tubing, elbow connector and tap valve only. Heating, UVB, substrate and décor are chosen separately for your species.
How do I work out safe mounting distance for a heat lamp?
Use the temperature-by-distance table published on that specific heat globe or ceramic heat emitter's product page, measured against where the animal actually perches inside this enclosure — not against the enclosure's total height.
Can I run cables in without leaving a gap for escapes?
Yes — there are four self-closing cable and tubing inlets on the rear panel for this.
