The complete motor unit for the Fluval AquaClear 110 – genuine part A16400. Where the impeller (A638) fixes weak flow from a worn part, this is the fix when the motor itself won't spin: no hum, no rotation, or a motor that's tripped and won't restart.
Will it fit my filter?
Part A16400 fits the Fluval AquaClear 110 power filter only (also sold historically as the AquaClear 500). It does not fit the AC20, AC30, AC50 or AC70 – those share a smaller motor, sold separately as the AC20/30/50/70 motor unit.

Impeller wear is common enough that some fitters replace the A638 impeller alone first, since it's the cheaper and more frequent point of failure – this motor unit is the step up when the motor itself, not just the impeller, has failed.

Fitting
No tools required. Unplug the filter, remove the old motor unit from the filter case, and press the new unit into place. Prime and check for flow and unusual noise before leaving the tank unattended.
Safety
Unplug the filter before fitting. Do not run the new motor dry – prime the filter with water before switching on.

My AC110 is dead – do I need the motor or the impeller?
If the motor makes no sound and the shaft doesn't turn by hand, it's the motor. If it hums or spins but flow is weak, try the cheaper A638 impeller first.
Does this include the impeller?
Yes, the motor unit ships with the shaft installed, ready to fit.
Will this fit the AquaClear 500?
Yes – AquaClear 500 is the same filter as the AC110 under its older GPH-based name, and shares this motor.
