Fluval Flex Aquarium 2.0 Black

A curved-front all-in-one aquarium with the filtration and lighting already built in. The Fluval Flex 2.0 pairs a distinctive rounded-glass tank with a rear multi-stage filter and a remote-controlled colour LED, in a kit sized for a first serious tank or a striking desk display. It's sold in two sizes, 34 litre and 57 litre, both in black.

Key features
  • Curved front glass – the signature Flex silhouette, with the filtration tucked out of sight in a rear chamber rather than an external canister.
  • Remote-controlled LED – white and RGB LEDs (39 on the 34 L, 54 on the 57 L) at 6500–7000K, with colour blends and effects driven from the included remote. No app control on this model.
  • Rear multi-stage filtration, built in – a circulation pump drives water through a foam block, a Poly-Carb cartridge and BIOMAX biological media, all housed behind the tank's rear wall.
  • Dual-voltage electronics – rated for both 120V/60Hz and 230–240V/50Hz, so the pump and light run correctly on Australian mains.
  • Everything to start filtering and lighting the tank is in the box – see What's included below for exactly what that does and doesn't cover.

Will it fit my space?

The 34 L measures 35 × 33 × 33 cm and suits a bedside table, desk or bookshelf. The 57 L measures 41 × 39 × 39 cm and needs a sturdier surface – a filled 57 L holds roughly 57 kg of water alone, before the glass, substrate and hardscape are added, so check the load rating of whatever it's sitting on. Fluval sells a purpose-built stand for the 123 L Flex Marine kit, but does not publish a matching stand for the 34 L or 57 L freshwater Flex 2.0 – confirm with us if you're after a stand for this size.

What's included
  • Curved glass aquarium with cover and feeding door
  • Remote-controlled LED light
  • Rear circulation pump with output nozzle, spray bar, hose and elbow connector
  • Low-voltage power supply
  • BIOMAX biological media insert
  • Poly-Carb cartridge and frame
  • Foam filter block
  • Anti-slip base pad
Not included

No heater is included, though the filtration chamber has a channel to fit one – you'll need a compatible in-tank heater sized to your litre count if you're keeping tropical fish. Substrate, decor, hardscape and a stand are also not included.

Performance

The 34 L pump moves 350 L/h through the filter chamber; the 57 L pump moves 480 L/h. Both figures are Fluval's rated output through the installed media, not a bare, unloaded pump figure, so they reflect what the filter actually does once foam, cartridge and BIOMAX are in place.

Care and maintenance

Rinse the foam block in tank water when flow slows or it looks clogged, and replace the Poly-Carb cartridge every 2 to 4 weeks – the carbon inside exhausts well before the cartridge looks dirty. BIOMAX biological media doesn't need routine replacement; rinse it gently in tank water only if it's due for a clean.

Safety

Mains-powered: use on a stable, level, load-rated surface away from splash risk, and don't run the pump dry. The unit is dual-rated for 230–240V/50Hz Australian mains; check the plug fitted to your unit is compatible with a standard AU outlet before powering on.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for freshwater or saltwater fish-only setups sized to the tank's litre count. Not sold as a complete reef or marine system – there's no protein skimmer, and no heater is included for tropical species.

Warranty and delivery

Fluval covers the Flex 2.0 with a 2-year standard warranty, extendable to 3 years with online registration within 30 days of purchase. These terms are in addition to any remedies available to you under Australian Consumer Law.

Common questions

Does it come with a heater?

No. The filtration chamber has a channel sized to fit an in-tank heater, but you'll need to buy one separately and size it to your tank's litre count.

Can I control the light from my phone?

No – the Flex 2.0's LED is controlled by the included infrared remote, not an app. If app control matters to you, that's a feature of Fluval's Marine 3.0 LED range instead, fitted to the Flex Marine 123 L.

Is it safe on Australian power?

Yes – the pump and light are dual-rated for 230–240V/50Hz as well as 120V/60Hz, so they run correctly on Australian mains.

What's the difference between the 34 L and 57 L?

Beyond size, the 57 L has a stronger pump (480 L/h versus 350 L/h) and more LEDs (54 versus 39) to suit the larger water volume and footprint.

Is this suitable for saltwater?

Yes, both sizes are rated for freshwater and saltwater fish-only use. For a reef setup, see the larger Fluval Flex Marine 123 L, which is built around a dedicated Marine 3.0 LED.
