The genuine Fluval FX6 lid, dial controls included, for a seal that holds. This is Fluval's factory replacement top cover for the FX6 canister filter, finished in black and fitted with the same dial mechanism used to prime and control the unit.
Will it fit my filter?
This is genuine Fluval part A20204, made specifically for the Fluval FX6 canister filter. It does not fit the FX5 or FX4 — despite looking similar, the FX-series lids differ in size and dial layout between models, so always match the part number to your filter rather than the family name.

Symptoms this fixes
A hissing or whistling sound from the top of the canister, air being drawn in during priming, or a filter that loses prime shortly after starting usually points to a failed lid seal rather than a pump fault. A cracked dial housing that no longer holds its setting is also a lid issue, not a motor issue.

Common questions
Does this fit the Fluval FX5?
No. The FX5 uses a different lid and dial layout — this part is specific to the FX6.
Do I need any tools to fit it?
No. The FX6 lid is a twist-lock fit onto the canister body, the same as the original.
Does the gasket come with the lid?
The lid includes its own sealing surface, but if your existing gasket is worn or torn it's worth ordering a replacement gasket separately.
Will this restore my filter's flow rate?
If your flow loss was caused by a poor seal at the lid, yes. If it's caused by clogged media or a worn impeller, replacing the lid alone won't fix it.
