This is genuine Fluval part A414, made for the Fluval G3 (A410) and Fluval G6 (A412) Advanced Filtration Systems. It is not shaped for the FX-series or 07-series canister filters, which use different basket shapes.

Rinse gently in removed tank water at each media check to clear trapped debris without stripping the bacterial colony — never rinse biological media under tap water, as chlorine and chloramine will kill the bacteria you're trying to keep. Ceramic media doesn't wear out the way mechanical pads do; most aquarists replace only a portion at a time, staggered over successive cleans, so the filter's bacterial colony is never reset all at once.

Suitable for G3 and G6 owners topping up or replacing biological media, and for anyone setting up a new G-series filter from empty. Not suitable as a mechanical or chemical stage on its own — pair it with the filter's foam and, if needed, carbon or another chemical media for a complete setup.

How much of the G-Nodes should I replace at once?

To avoid disrupting your cycle, replace no more than a third to a half of your biological media in any one clean.

Can I use these in a marine tank?

Yes, G-Nodes are safe and effective in both freshwater and marine systems.

Do these fit the Fluval FX6?

No. G-Nodes are shaped for the G3/G6 basket. FX-series filters use their own ceramic media, sold separately.

Will these help with cloudy water?

Not directly — that's a job for mechanical or polishing media. G-Nodes work on dissolved ammonia and nitrite, not suspended particles.
