This is genuine Fluval part A20251, made for the Fluval G3 (A410) and Fluval G6 (A412) Advanced Filtration Systems. It is not designed for FX-series or 07-series canister filters, which mount differently.

Do I need to remove the whole filter to fit this?

No. The bracket clips onto the existing housing without dismantling the internal filter components.

Will this fit an FX6?

No. The FX-series doesn't mount externally on the rim the way the G3 and G6 do, so it uses a different fitting system entirely.
