Fluval Motor Head Maintenance Kit 307

Restore quiet, leak-free running to a Fluval 307 canister filter with the exact parts Fluval builds for it. This is the genuine Fluval Motor Head Maintenance Kit for the 307 Performance Canister Filter (Fluval part A20096), covering the four components inside the motor head that wear first: the magnetic impeller, its ceramic shaft and rubber support, the impeller cover, and the motor head gasket. It is designed specifically for the Fluval 307 and is not shared with other models in the range.

Key features
  • Genuine Fluval part (A20096) — made to the exact tolerances of the original 307 motor head, so it seats and seals correctly.
  • Covers the four wear parts in one kit — impeller, ceramic shaft and rubber support, impeller cover and gasket, rather than buying each separately.
  • Addresses the three most common 307 symptoms — a louder-than-usual motor, reduced flow, and a weeping motor head gasket.
  • No draining required — the motor head unclips from the filter body for servicing without disturbing the media or hoses.

Will it fit my filter?

This kit is built for the Fluval 307 canister filter only. It is not interchangeable with the 107, 207 or 407 — each of those uses its own motor head kit with a different part number. If you're not sure which canister you own, the model number is printed on the label on the side of the canister body. Fluval sells the matching kit for the 407 (part A20097) separately.

What's included
  • 1 x magnetic impeller
  • 1 x ceramic impeller shaft with rubber shaft support
  • 1 x impeller cover
  • 1 x motor head gasket

Not included: the motor head housing itself, the canister body, hoses, or media baskets.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for Fluval 307 owners doing scheduled annual servicing, or fixing a motor that has become noisy, lost flow, or developed a slow weep at the motor head seam. Not a fix for a cracked motor head housing, a failed motor winding, or flow loss caused by dirty media or a blocked intake strainer — check and clean those first.

Care and maintenance

Fluval recommends replacing the impeller assembly and gasket roughly once a year as part of routine canister servicing, more often in hard water areas where mineral build-up accelerates wear on the ceramic shaft. Rinse the new impeller before fitting and check it spins freely by hand before closing the motor head.

Warranty and delivery

Covered by Fluval's standard replacement parts warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard parcel delivery Australia-wide.

Common questions

How do I know if my 307 needs this kit rather than a whole new filter?

If the canister still primes, holds pressure and doesn't leak from the body seals, a noisy or slow motor is almost always the impeller assembly, not the whole unit — this kit fixes that for a fraction of the cost of a replacement filter.

Can I fit this myself?

Yes. The motor head lifts off the top of the canister without draining the tank or disturbing the media; the impeller, shaft and cover then lift straight out for replacement.

Will this kit fit a Fluval 407?

No. The 407 uses a different motor head kit, Fluval part A20097, sold separately.

How often should I service the motor head?

Annually is a reasonable default for most tanks; more often in hard water, or as soon as you notice extra noise, reduced flow, or a small weep at the motor head join.
