The Rio 125 shares its filtration and heater with the Lido 120, but in a longer, shallower 81 x 36 cm footprint rather than the Lido's more square 61 x 41 cm base – better for species that swim in open water than for a tall planted layout. Step up to the Lido 200 for extra depth and volume in a similar overall footprint.

Check the combined footprint of tank and cabinet – 81 x 36 cm – against your available wall space; the Rio's long, narrow base fits many walls a square 120 L tank wouldn't. At 25.5 kg empty plus roughly 125 kg of water when filled, the cabinet's 500 kg rating covers the tank with plenty of margin, but the floor still needs to be level and load-bearing.

Suitable for freshwater community and shoaling-fish setups that benefit from open swimming length, and for marine builds once fitted with the additional equipment marine keeping needs – protein skimmer, salt mix and RO/DI water. Not supplied ready for reef or heavily stocked marine use out of the box, and the shallower 50 cm height gives less headroom for tall planted layouts than the Lido line.

Rinse or replace the Bioflow M sponge and poly pad media on a rolling basis rather than all at once, to protect the filter bacteria colony. Check the MultiLux LED tubes annually – Juwel's warranty excludes light tubes and filter media as wear items.

The heater and pump are mains-powered; run both on a 240 V / 50 Hz Australian supply through an RCD-protected circuit, and never run the heater dry or expose it while unplugged from water. Site the finished, filled system on a genuinely level, load-bearing floor.

Is the Rio 125 ready for saltwater out of the box?

The tank and cabinet are saltwater-capable, but the included filtration is set up for freshwater. A marine build needs a protein skimmer and marine salt mix added before stocking.

Do I need to buy a separate heater?

No – a 100 W adjustable heater is included and sized for this tank's volume.
