Lizard Loungers - Small Corner - 27 x 32cm

A woven basking shelf that suction-mounts straight into a terrarium corner. The Penn-Plax Reptology Lizard Lounger Small Corner is a hand-woven, 100% natural seagrass hammock that gives climbing reptiles a stable platform above the substrate. At 27 x 32 cm it suits smaller enclosures and smaller-bodied or juvenile reptiles, and it fixes to glass, acrylic or rigid plastic terrarium walls with suction cups — no drilling, no adhesive.

Key features
  • Hand-woven natural seagrass — a fibrous, grippable texture reptiles can climb and rest on, not a moulded plastic mesh.
  • Corner-fit triangle shape — two straight edges sit flush against adjoining glass walls, so the platform doesn't intrude on floor space.
  • Suction-cup mounted — fixes to glass, acrylic or rigid plastic terrarium walls.
  • Raises your reptile off the substrate — useful for positioning a lizard closer to an overhead heat or UVB source, and for keeping a shedding animal's grip surface dry.
  • Compact 27 x 32 cm footprint — fits smaller and nano enclosures where a full-length hammock would crowd the floor space.

Will it fit my enclosure?

The Small Corner needs a smooth, flat length of glass, acrylic or rigid plastic on both adjoining walls of the corner it's mounted in — the suction cups won't hold on a mesh or screen panel. Because it sits in a corner rather than along a single wall, check that the corner you have in mind isn't already taken up by a water dish, hide or heat cable. At 27 x 32 cm it's sized for nano and small-to-medium terrariums; if the enclosure is built for an adult bearded dragon or a similarly large lizard, the Large Corner gives more platform to stand on.

Which Lizard Lounger do I need?

All three Penn-Plax Reptology Lizard Loungers in this range are hand-woven from the same natural seagrass fibre. The difference is shape and size:

Lounger Shape Size Best for
Small Corner Corner triangle 27 x 32 cm Nano and small enclosures, juvenile or smaller-bodied reptiles
Large Corner Corner triangle 35.5 x 35.5 cm Standard adult bearded dragon-sized enclosures
XLarge Hammock Straight 75 x 17.8 cm Long, narrow walls or enclosures without a free corner

If your reptile is close to outgrowing this platform, or the enclosure has room to spare, the Large Corner is the same shape at a larger size.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for bearded dragons, anoles, geckos, small iguanas, hermit crabs and similar climbing reptiles able to grip a woven surface.

Not suitable for aquatic or semi-aquatic species that need a submersible perch — this lounger is not water safe. Not suitable for enclosures with only mesh or screen walls, since the suction cups need a smooth, rigid surface to seal against. Not sized for adult reptiles that need a larger platform — see the Large Corner or XLarge Hammock.

Care and maintenance

Spot clean with a diluted vinegar-and-water solution, rinse, then dry the lounger completely before returning it to the enclosure — a hairdryer on a low setting speeds this up. Don't submerge it fully or machine wash it, and don't cut it to size, as this frays the weave. A lounger left damp in a humid enclosure is the most common cause of mould, so check it during routine cleaning.

Goes well with
  • A basking lamp or heat source positioned above the lounger, so it functions as an actual basking spot rather than just a shelf.
  • A digital thermometer to check the temperature the platform is actually reaching.
  • A second lounger in a different corner or size, for multi-level climbing space in larger enclosures.
Warranty and delivery

Penn-Plax doesn't publish a specific warranty term for the Reptology range; it's covered by the standard consumer guarantees under Australian Consumer Law regardless. It ships as a standard small parcel item — no special freight handling applies.

Common questions

Can I cut the Lizard Lounger to fit an unusual corner?

No. Cutting the woven seagrass will fray the edges and isn't supported by the manufacturer. Choose the closest matching size instead — the Large Corner or the XLarge Hammock if the Small Corner doesn't suit the space.

Will the suction cups mark my glass?

They can leave a faint ring over time, the same as any suction-mounted terrarium accessory. Repositioning it occasionally reduces this.

Is the seagrass safe if my reptile chews on it?

It's an untreated natural plant fibre with no published toxicity concerns, but it isn't marketed as an edible enrichment item, and heavy chewing will shorten its life. Keep an eye on any reptile that nibbles at it.

Does it work in a plastic tub enclosure?

Yes, as long as the wall is rigid and smooth enough for the suction cups to seal. Textured or flexible plastic won't hold the mount reliably.

What's the maximum reptile size it will hold?

Penn-Plax hasn't published a weight limit for this range. As a guide, the Small Corner's 27 x 32 cm platform suits smaller-bodied and juvenile reptiles; a full-grown bearded dragon is better matched to the Large Corner or XLarge Hammock.
