Red Sea MAX Nano Circulation Pump

The genuine circulation pump for your Red Sea MAX Nano. This factory replacement pump — Red Sea part R40589EUR — delivers 950 litres per hour at 16 W, matched to the MAX Nano Cube and Peninsula configurations.

Key features
  • 950 L/h flow at 16 W — the same output as the pump your MAX Nano shipped with.
  • Direct-fit replacement — correct size and fittings, no modification needed.
  • 230–240 V, 50 Hz — the Australian-market voltage version of this pump.
  • Keeps circulation and filtration working as designed — corals fed, oxygen moving, detritus kept in suspension for the filter to catch.

Will it fit my tank?

This pump fits the MAX Nano Cube and Peninsula, generations G1 and G2. It does not fit the MAX Nano XL or XXL, which use a different, higher-output circulation pump. If you're not sure which MAX Nano configuration you have, check the model plate on your cabinet or send us your details before ordering.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
  • Suitable for: Red Sea MAX Nano Cube and Peninsula systems, marine and reef.
  • Not suitable for: MAX Nano XL/XXL, or non-Red Sea systems.
Care and maintenance

Reduced flow, unusual noise or a pump that's struggling to start are usually calcium build-up rather than a failed motor — soak the pump in a citric acid solution before condemning it. If the impeller itself is worn but the motor is fine, Red Sea also sells the impeller as a standalone spare, which is the cheaper fix where it applies.

Running costs

At 16 W run continuously, this pump uses roughly 140 kWh a year — a fraction of the running cost of most other equipment on a reef tank.

Warranty and delivery

Covered by the manufacturer's standard warranty against defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard shipping across Australia.

Common questions

How do I know if I need this pump or just a new impeller?

If flow is weak but the pump still runs smoothly once cleaned, the impeller is the more likely — and cheaper — fix. Replace the full pump when the motor itself is noisy, seized, or has stopped.

Will this fit my MAX Nano XL?

No — the MAX Nano XL and XXL use a different, higher-output pump. This part is for the Cube and Peninsula configurations.

Is this the Australian voltage version?

Yes — R40589EUR is the 230–240 V, 50 Hz version suited to Australian mains. A separate 110–120 V version exists for the North American market.
