Red Sea Reefer G2+ 300 Complete System black - 300L
A modular reef foundation in a black cabinet, not a finished tank. The Red Sea REEFER 300 G2+ (black) is a 300 L reef-ready system — display aquarium, cabinet, in-cabinet sump and plumbing, plus Red Sea's ReefATO+ top-off controller — built for reefers who want to fit their own skimmer, return pump and lighting rather than buy them bundled in.
Key features
- Rimless, ultra-clear glass — clean, distortion-free viewing, framed by a black cabinet that disappears against most rooms.
- In-cabinet glass sump — mechanical filtration and future equipment space stay out of sight instead of crammed behind the tank.
- ReefATO+ automatic top-off controller — keeps salinity stable between top-ups without manual dosing (a reservoir for the top-off water is not included — see below).
- Self-assembly cabinet in Black or White — flat-packed for delivery, built on site to match your fitout.
- Plumbing already run — outlet nozzle and bulkheads are fitted, so there's no drilling glass or gluing pipe on install day.
- A modular platform — add your own protein skimmer, return pump and lighting to suit your budget and reef, rather than paying for equipment fitted at the factory.
What's included, and what you'll still need
"Complete", "system" and "kit" get used loosely in this category, so here's the REEFER G2+ 300 spelled out exactly.
What's included
- Rimless, ultra-clear glass display aquarium
- Self-assembly cabinet, in the colour ordered
- In-cabinet glass sump with mechanical filtration compartment
- Internal overflow and plumbing kit with outlet nozzle and bulkheads
- ReefATO+ automatic top-off controller, sensor and pump
What you'll still need
- A protein skimmer
- A return pump
- Aquarium lighting and a mounting arm
- A heater and thermostat
- An ATO reservoir — a container for the top-off water. The ReefATO+ controller, sensor and pump are included; the reservoir itself is not.
- Live rock, substrate and livestock

Which REEFER G2+ size do I need?
| Model | Display volume | Total system volume | Sump volume | Display tank (L x W x H) |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| REEFER G2+ 250 | 203 L | 245 L | approx. 42 L (Red Sea's international spec table; some Australian listings show 46 L, so check with us if your setup depends on the exact figure) | 90 x 50 x 53 cm |
| REEFER G2+ 300 | 246 L | 300 L | 54 L | 90 x 57.5 x 55 cm |
| REEFER G2+ 350 | 273 L | 342 L | 69 L | 120 x 50 x 53 cm |
All three sizes share the same construction, the same ReefATO+ controller, and the same exclusions above. The difference is footprint and volume — measure your space and stocking plans against the table rather than the litre number alone, since a longer, shallower 300 footprint suits a different room than a deeper one at a similar volume.
REEFER G2+ vs REEFER MAX — what's the difference?
| Included as standard | REEFER G2+ | REEFER MAX |
|---|---|---|
| Display aquarium, cabinet, sump and plumbing | Yes | Yes |
| ReefATO+ auto top-off controller | Yes (reservoir not included) | Yes |
| Protein skimmer | No — sold separately | Yes, fitted |
| Return pump | No — sold separately | Yes, fitted |
| Aquarium lighting | No — sold separately | Yes, fitted |
The MAX range is Red Sea's fully-equipped tier — you unbox it closer to reef-ready. The REEFER G2+ range on this page is the modular tier: the tank, cabinet, sump and plumbing are Red Sea's, and you choose your own skimmer, pump and light. Neither is "better" — G2+ suits reefers who already own equipment or want to choose their own; MAX suits a from-scratch build on a set budget.
Generation and version notes
This is the REEFER G2+ generation. G2+ added Red Sea's ReefATO+ auto top-off controller as standard over the earlier G2. Red Sea's current flagship reef system range is the newer REEFER G3 series; G2+ remains an established, fully supported platform and is not being discontinued by us as a listing — if generation compatibility with a specific accessory matters for your build, ask us to confirm before you order.
Weight, floor loading and delivery
Red Sea's own documentation lists the REEFER 300 G2+ at approximately 470 kg once filled with water — this does not include substrate, rock or equipment, which typically add further weight.
Red Sea states the flooring beneath the system must be rated to support this weight, but does not publish a per-square-metre figure. As with any aquarium system over 200 L, we recommend confirming your floor's load capacity with a qualified professional before installation, particularly upstairs or on an older floor. This ships on a pallet due to its size and weight — contact us for delivery details for your address before ordering.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for: reefers who want Red Sea's tank, cabinet, sump and plumbing but plan to choose their own skimmer, return pump and lighting; upgraders moving out of an all-in-one nano system into a larger, modular reef setup.
Not suitable for: anyone wanting a single-box, plug-and-play system with equipment fitted from the factory — see REEFER MAX above for that. Not supplied with a heater, and not reef-ready to add livestock straight out of the box; it needs its remaining equipment, cycling and testing first.
Warranty and delivery
Red Sea's standard warranty on the glass aquarium and cabinet is 3 years from purchase, extendable to 5 years at no extra cost if you register within 90 days at Red Sea's own registration site — Australia is an eligible country for this extension. This is in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Freight for this item is oversize; contact Nick's Aquarium Oceanarium Terrarium for a delivery quote before ordering.
Goes well with
- Protein skimmers sized to your total system volume, not just the display volume
- Return pumps — check the pump's curve at your plumbing's head height, not just its rated flow
- Reef lighting to suit your display tank's footprint and coral mix
- The wider Red Sea range for salt, test kits and dosing to match this system
Common questions
Does the REEFER 300 G2+ include a protein skimmer, pump or light?
No. The REEFER G2+ range includes the tank, cabinet, in-cabinet sump, plumbing and the ReefATO+ top-off controller only. Skimmer, return pump and lighting are sold separately, so you can choose the equipment that suits your reef and budget.
What's the difference between REEFER G2+ and REEFER MAX?
REEFER MAX is Red Sea's fully-equipped tier: it ships with a protein skimmer, return pump and lighting fitted. REEFER G2+, the range on this page, is the modular tier — the tank, cabinet, sump and plumbing are included, and you fit your own equipment.
Is the ReefATO+ top-off reservoir included?
The ReefATO+ controller, sensor and pump are included and fitted. The physical reservoir that holds the top-off water is not included — Red Sea's own documentation states the REEFER G2+ range does not ship with a top-off reservoir.
Will my floor support a filled REEFER 300 G2+?
Red Sea states the floor beneath a filled REEFER 300 G2+ must support approximately 470 kg — this does not include substrate, rock or equipment. Get a qualified professional to confirm your specific floor before installing any aquarium system over 200 L, especially on an upper storey or an older structure.
Is REEFER G2+ the newest Red Sea Reefer generation?
No — Red Sea's current flagship line is the newer REEFER G3 series. G2+ is the previous generation and remains a well-established, fully supported platform; it is not being withdrawn from our range.
