Red Sea's own installation guidance states that the flooring directly beneath the system must be rated to support its weight. Red Sea lists the Reefer 900 G2+ at approximately 1300 kg (2870 lb) filled with water — a figure that excludes substrate, rock, equipment and livestock. As a separate reference point, the water alone in a 900 L system weighs approximately 900 kg. Before installation, especially on an upper floor or a suspended structure, confirm actual floor loading and structural capacity with a qualified builder or structural engineer; this is a structural determination we cannot make on Red Sea's behalf.

Given its size and weight, this system is expected to arrive as multiple large items (tank, cabinet and sump) via palletised freight or two-person delivery rather than a standard parcel courier. What's actually included with the Reefer G2+ 900?

The Reefer G2+ 900 includes the rimless glass display tank, a self-assembly cabinet, a glass sump with bubble-trap sponge, micron filter bags/media cups and a float valve for auto top-up, a glass extension sump, and full internal plumbing with a silent emergency overflow. Lighting, a protein skimmer, a return pump and the auto top-up reservoir itself are not included.

Is the auto top-up reservoir included?

No. Red Sea's own documentation states the top-up reservoir is not included with the 900 G2+ (or the S850/S1000 models). The float valve in the sump is fitted and ready, but a reservoir and dosing pump are needed to run automatic top-up.

Do I need to buy lighting and a protein skimmer separately?

Yes. This is the G2+ (base) tier of the Reefer range, supplying the tank, cabinet, sump and plumbing infrastructure only. For a system with lighting, a return pump and a protein skimmer included as standard, look for the Reefer MAX version of the same size.

How much does the filled system weigh, and do I need to check my floor?

Red Sea states the Reefer 900 G2+ weighs approximately 1300 kg filled with water, before substrate, rock and livestock are added. We recommend confirming floor loading and structural capacity with a qualified builder or engineer before installation, particularly for upper-floor or suspended-floor sites.

What's the difference between the white and black cabinet options?

Only the finish differs. The white cabinet and matching panels on this listing are a cosmetic choice; the tank, cabinet, sump, plumbing and all specifications are identical to the black version of this system.

What warranty applies?

Red Sea's manufacturer warranty covers 24 months from purchase, extending to 36 months on the glass aquarium if you register the product. This applies alongside, and does not reduce, your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
