Red Sea REEFER G3 Aquarium System 625
A reef platform sized for a serious stocking list. The Red Sea REEFER G3 625 is a 620-litre rimless reef aquarium system – display tank, glass sump and matching cabinet, built to Red Sea's current G3 generation. It ships with the tank, sump, cabinet and Red Sea's ReefATO+ auto top-off already fitted. A return pump, protein skimmer and lighting are not included – you choose and fit those yourself.
Key features
- Rimless eurobraced display – 497 L display volume in a 150 × 65 cm footprint, reinforced with Red Sea's eurobracing and aluminium framing, standard on G3 models from 425 upward.
- ReefATO+ auto top-off included – Red Sea's electronic top-off system, with temperature monitoring and leak detection, comes standard on G3 rather than as an upgrade.
- G3 redesigned plumbing – fewer sharp 90° bends and a new ReefGate flow valve are built to deliver more water flow than the equivalent G2 model, with quieter, more precise drain control.
- Large 121 L glass sump – an improved sump design for this generation, with pre-glued plumbing and a mechanical filtration chamber, ready for a ReefMat fleece roller (sold separately).
- Marine-spec cabinet – laminated plywood with epoxy-painted doors, reinforced aluminium supports, stainless steel hinges and levelling feet, in the colour shown on this listing.
- 620 L total system volume – the figure to use for salt mix, dosing and medication calculations, not the smaller 497 L display-only figure.

REEFER G3 versus REEFER MAX
This listing is the base G3 platform: tank, sump, cabinet and auto top-off, with your choice of pump, skimmer and light fitted afterwards. Red Sea's REEFER MAX line ships as a complete kit, with a pump, skimmer and lighting already fitted, at a higher price point. If you want a system that's ready to run on day one, check a MAX model rather than assuming this one includes it.
Which REEFER G3 do I need?
The 625 is a full step up from the 300–350 range – 150 × 65 cm, eurobraced glass and a 121 L sump built for a heavier bioload. It sits between the S-550 and the 750 on display volume, with more length than the S-550 but less width and depth.
| Model | Total volume | Display volume | Sump volume | Display dimensions (L×W×H) | Total height |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| REEFER G3 300 | 301 L | 247 L | 57 L | 90 × 57 × 55 cm | 142 cm |
| REEFER G3 350 | 342 L | 273 L | 69 L | 120 × 50 × 53 cm | 140 cm |
| REEFER G3 S-550 | 549 L | 448 L | 101 L | 120 × 68 × 65 cm | 153 cm |
| REEFER G3 625 | 620 L | 497 L | 121 L | 150 × 65 × 60 cm | 148 cm |
| REEFER G3 750 | 750 L | 600 L | 151 L | 180 × 65 × 60 cm | 148 cm |
What changed in G3
Red Sea redesigned the plumbing for this generation, cutting the number of sharp 90° bends and fitting a new ReefGate flow valve for precise, near-silent control over the drain rate. From 425 upward – which includes the 625 – G3 models also gain eurobraced glass, aluminium framing and an improved sump design. Every G3 model ships with the ReefATO+ electronic auto top-off as standard, where earlier REEFER generations needed it as an add-on.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for: established reef keepers stepping up to a heavier bioload or a larger aquascape, who are sourcing their own return pump, skimmer and lighting sized to the 620 L system.
Not suitable for: anyone who wants a single purchase that includes a skimmer, return pump and lighting – that's Red Sea's MAX range, not this listing. Budget for that equipment, plus a floor check, before you commission the tank.
Warranty and delivery
Red Sea's REEFER range carries a manufacturer's warranty of 3 years standard, extendable to 5 years total with registration within 90 days of purchase – provided in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Mains-powered components, including the ReefATO+ unit, run on 240 V / 50 Hz Australian supply. Red Sea does not publish an empty or filled weight for this system; as a floor-loading guide, the water alone in a full 620 L system weighs around 620 kg, before the glass, cabinet, sump, aquascape and livestock are counted. At this size, get a professional opinion on your floor's load rating before committing to a spot – particularly upstairs or over an unsupported span. This is a large glass and cabinet item delivered on a pallet, generally requiring two people to position; the cabinet requires assembly.
Goes well with
- Red Sea Reefer DC Skimmer 900 – Red Sea's larger DC skimmer, worth checking against your bioload at this sump size.
- Red Sea Coral Pro Salt 20kg Refill Box – mixes enough saltwater for water changes on a system this size.
- Red Sea Seawater Refractometer – for checking salinity before the tank goes live.
- Red Sea Alkalinity Pro Reagent Refill Kit – a heavier bioload means more frequent alkalinity checks.
Common questions
Does the REEFER G3 625 include a return pump or skimmer?
No. This listing is the aquarium, sump, cabinet and ReefATO+ auto top-off only. A return pump and protein skimmer are sold separately, so you can size them to your stocking plan.
What does the 620 L figure on this listing mean?
It's the total system volume – display plus sump combined. Use that figure, not the 497 L display-only volume, for salt mix and dosing calculations.
Is the glass on the 625 different to the smaller models?
Yes. From 425 upward, G3 models use eurobraced glass with aluminium framing for extra rigidity at larger volumes – the 300 and 350 don't need this reinforcement.
How much does a full system weigh, and will my floor take it?
Red Sea doesn't publish a tank or cabinet weight for this model. The water alone in a full 620 L system weighs around 620 kg – get your floor's load rating checked before committing to a spot for a system this size.
What's the difference between this and a REEFER MAX?
Red Sea's REEFER MAX line applies the same rimless build with a pump, skimmer and lighting already fitted. We don't currently stock a G3 MAX at exactly 620 L, but the Max 525 G3 shows what a MAX kit includes if you'd rather buy pre-equipped.
