Red Sea REEFER G3 DELUXE Aquarium System 525
More display and sump volume for reefers who've outgrown a 350.
The Red Sea REEFER G3 Deluxe 525 is a 423 L display / 541 L total-volume reef system built around a rimless glass tank, a pre-plumbed sump and Red Sea’s ReefATO+ auto top-off. At 150 cm long with a 118 L sump, it gives more room for media, dosing and future upgrades than the smaller 350. The Deluxe package adds 3× ReefLED G2 115 lighting with mounting arms over the bare G3 platform — it does not add a return pump or a protein skimmer, which this page covers in detail below.
Key features
- Rimless, ultra-clear glass display — beveled edges and a low-profile internal overflow keep the waterline clean with no visible plumbing.
- 118 L pre-plumbed sump — glass construction, ReefGate flow valve and compartments ready for media, a skimmer and a return pump.
- ReefATO+ auto top-off — tops up evaporation automatically, with leak detection and temperature monitoring built in. Marine and reef water only — Red Sea does not rate ReefATO+ for freshwater use.
- 3× ReefLED G2 115 included — app-controlled lighting with mounting arms, so the Deluxe package is ready to run coral-capable light from day one.
- Marine-spec cabinet — plywood construction with epoxy-painted doors and levelling feet, in black or white.
- 5-year warranty — 3 years standard, extended to 5 when you register the product with Red Sea.
What's included
- REEFER G3 525 rimless, ultra-clear glass display tank with internal overflow
- Marine-spec cabinet (plywood, epoxy-painted doors, levelling feet) — black or white
- Glass sump with pre-glued plumbing and ReefGate flow valve
- ReefATO+ automatic top-off system with leak detection and temperature monitoring
- 3× Red Sea ReefLED G2 115 light fixtures with mounting arms (Deluxe package)
- 5-year manufacturer warranty (3 years standard, 2 years on product registration)
Not included
This is the Deluxe lighting package, not a plug-and-play complete system. The following are not in the box and need to be bought separately before this tank can run:
- Return pump — size to your sump-to-display head height and desired turnover
- Protein skimmer — the sump is laid out for a Red Sea REEFER DC skimmer
- ReefMat fleece roller filter (mechanical filtration upgrade)
- Reef salt, RO/DI water, test kits, aquascape and livestock
If you want a system with the pump and skimmer already fitted, Red Sea's REEFER MAX range is built for that — this REEFER G3 Deluxe is the platform to choose when you want to pick your own pump and skimmer brand and size.

Which REEFER G3 Deluxe do I need?
All five systems share the same G3 platform — rimless glass, a pre-plumbed sump and the ReefATO+ top-off system. The differences are footprint, sump capacity and how much ReefLED lighting comes in the box.
| Model | Display volume | Total system volume | Display footprint (L × W × H) | Sump volume | Deluxe lighting included |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| REEFER G3 Deluxe 350 | 273 L | 342 L | 120 × 50 × 53 cm | 69 L | 2× ReefLED G2 115 |
| REEFER G3 Deluxe 525 | 423 L | 541 L | 150 × 60 × 55 cm | 118 L | 3× ReefLED G2 115 |
| REEFER G3 Deluxe 625 | 498 L | 621 L | 150 × 65 × 60 cm | 122 L | 2× ReefLED G2 170 |
| REEFER G3 Deluxe 750 | 600 L | 750 L | 180 × 65 × 60 cm | 152 L | 3× ReefLED G2 170 |
| REEFER G3 Deluxe S-550 | 449 L | 550 L | 120 × 68 × 65 cm | 102 L | 2× ReefLED G2 170 |
The S-550 trades the standard range’s length for extra width and height on a shorter footprint — worth a look if depth and aquascaping options matter more than a long display.
Performance — ReefLED G2 light coverage
Red Sea publishes PAR at two points for each ReefLED G2 fixture, measured under its own test conditions. We haven't interpolated between them — treat the gap as unpublished, not zero.
| Depth | PAR (single fixture, manufacturer test) |
|---|---|
| Surface | ~500 µmol·m²·s⁻¹ |
| 50 cm | ~150 µmol·m²·s⁻¹ |
Red Sea's own test used a single fixture mounted 21 cm above the centre of a 60 × 60 × 60 cm tank. On this system the 3 fixtures overlap across the full display, so expect higher readings directly under each light and lower readings at the tank's outer edges — and remember the ReefLED app's ramping and acclimation presets can more than halve peak output while corals settle in.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for: marine and reef keepers building a new display or upgrading from a smaller tank, anyone who wants sump-based filtration with room to add media, dosing and a skimmer of their own choosing, and reefers who'd rather choose their own return pump and skimmer brand than take a bundled one.
Not suitable for: freshwater setups — ReefATO+ is not rated for freshwater use. First-time fishkeepers wanting a true plug-and-play tank (look at REEFER MAX instead). Anyone who hasn't confirmed the installation site can take the filled weight (see Warranty and delivery, below).
Care and maintenance
Top up the ReefATO+ reservoir on the schedule the alarm prompts rather than waiting for a low-water alert. Rinse or replace mechanical media in the sump on a regular cycle to stop it choking flow back to the return pump. Wipe down the cabinet interior periodically — sumps run humid, and marine-spec plywood still benefits from staying dry. Check ReefLED mounting arms are seated correctly after any aquascape changes so fixtures don't drift out of position.
Safety
The ReefATO+ pump and ReefLED drivers run on 220–240V AC, 50Hz — use an RCD-protected circuit and keep drip loops on every cable, as with any aquarium electrical installation. Never let the ReefATO+ reservoir run dry for extended periods; the leak detection is a backstop, not a substitute for checking it. Red Sea doesn't publish an empty or filled weight for this model. As a rough check: 541 L of water alone is roughly 541 kg before glass, sand, rock and cabinet are added.
Goes well with
- A Red Sea Reefer Skimmer 600 PSK1000, sized for this sump's flow.
- A DC return pump sized to your plumbing head height and target turnover.
- A Red Sea reef salt mix and a full reef test kit range, to get water parameters right before livestock goes in.
- The REEFER G3 Deluxe 350 (smaller) or the REEFER G3 Deluxe 625 (deeper), if you’re weighing this size against a neighbour.

Common questions
Does this come with a return pump and protein skimmer?
No. The Deluxe package adds ReefLED lighting to the base G3 platform; the return pump and protein skimmer are sold separately so you can size and brand them yourself.
Can I run this as a freshwater tank?
Not with the included ReefATO+ system — Red Sea doesn't rate it for freshwater use. The tank and sump themselves aren't fresh/marine-specific, but the bundled top-off system is built for reef and marine water.
What's the difference between this and REEFER MAX?
REEFER MAX ships with a return pump and skimmer already fitted as a plug-and-play package. This REEFER G3 Deluxe gives you the tank, sump, ATO and lighting, and leaves the pump and skimmer choice to you.
Is this tank safe on a timber floor?
Check with a builder or structural engineer before installing any system this size upstairs or on a suspended floor. Red Sea doesn't publish an empty or filled weight for this model. As a rough check: 541 L of water alone is roughly 541 kg before glass, sand, rock and cabinet are added.
Which REEFER G3 Deluxe size should I buy?
Compare display volume, footprint and included lighting in the table above — as a rule of thumb, buy for the footprint your room can take rather than the biggest total volume on the list.
