Red Sea Reefer Max 250 G2+
The largest MAX G2+ size, with genuinely doubled lighting and flow hardware. The Reefer MAX 250 G2+ stretches to a 90 cm, 203 L display on uniform 12 mm glass, and is the only size in the range shipping with two ReefLED G2 115 fixtures and two ReefWave 25 pumps rather than one – though it keeps the same ReefRun G2 4000 return pump and Reefer DC Skimmer 300 as the smaller sizes.
Key features
- 245 L total system volume on a 90 x 50 cm footprint – longer and shallower than the 170/200, suited to a wall run rather than a corner.
- Two ReefLED G2 115 fixtures and two ReefWave 25 gyre pumps included – the only size in this range with doubled lighting and flow coverage.
- Uniform 12 mm glass on front, sides and base – thicker than the 170/200's 10 mm front and base, to suit the longer unsupported pane.
- ReefRun G2 4000 return pump and Reefer DC Skimmer 300 – the same models fitted to the smaller sizes; Red Sea doesn't upsize the return pump or skimmer for the 250.
- ReefMat 250 roller filter and ReefATO+ auto top-off included.
What's included
- REEFER-S 250 G2+ display tank, sump and cabinet
- 2x ReefLED G2 115 lights with mounting arms
- 2x ReefWave 25 gyre powerheads (1980 GPH each)
- 1x ReefRun G2 4000 DC return pump and controller
- 1x Reefer DC Skimmer 300 protein skimmer
- 1x ReefMat 250 automatic filter roller
- 1x ReefATO+ auto top-off with temperature and leak sensors
- Slide-out Control Panel; sump with pre-glued plumbing
Not included
Not included on any size in this range: heater, chiller, RO/DI unit, test kit, salt mix, live rock, sand or livestock. Note that while lighting and flow hardware double on this size, the return pump and skimmer do not – if you're planning a heavier bioload, budget for upgrading those separately.

Which size do I need?
The 250 is the only size in the range with doubled ReefLED and ReefWave hardware, and the only one stepped up to uniform 12 mm glass. It shares its 42 L sump with the 200 – the extra volume over the 200 is entirely in a longer, shallower display tank (90 x 50 cm versus 60 x 57.5 cm).

Choose the 250 if you want a longer wall-run display and doubled light/flow coverage out of the box. If you'd rather put that budget toward a bigger pump or skimmer instead of extra lighting, the 200 with an upgraded pump may suit better than the 250 as supplied.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for: a longer display position and reef keepers who want two independently mounted light fixtures for even coverage across a 90 cm span.
- Not suitable for: anyone expecting the return pump and skimmer to be upsized to match the larger tank – they're the same units as the 170 and 200.
Care and maintenance
With two ReefWave pumps and two ReefLED fixtures, budget slightly more cleaning time than the single-fixture sizes. ReefMat fleece and ReefATO+ reservoir servicing follow the same schedule as the rest of the range.
Warranty and delivery
24 months standard warranty from Red Sea, extendable by 12 months on the glass aquarium with registration, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. At around 315 kg filled, this needs a two-person lift and freight handling suited to an oversized item – confirm delivery access before ordering.
Goes well with
- A heater sized to a 245 L system – not included.
- An upgraded return pump or second skimmer – worth considering if you're stocking heavily, since this size doesn't upsize that hardware from the 170/200.
- An RO/DI unit and reef salt mix.
Common questions
Does the 250 have a bigger pump and skimmer than the 170 and 200?
No – all three sizes use the same ReefRun G2 4000 pump and Reefer DC Skimmer 300. Only the lighting and circulation hardware double on the 250.
Is the glass thicker on the 250?
Yes – uniform 12 mm on front, sides and base, versus 10 mm front/base and 12 mm sides on the 170 and 200.
How heavy is this system filled?
Around 315 kg, on a 90 x 50 cm footprint.
Is the sump bigger than the 200's?
No – the 250 and 200 share the same 42 L sump. The 250's extra volume is entirely in the display tank.
