Red Sea Reefer/MAXE G1 Sump Pipe Connector O-ring Set
Stops a weeping sump connector before it becomes a wet cabinet floor.
This is Red Sea's genuine replacement O-ring set (Red Sea part R42187) for the sump pipe connectors used across the Reefer G1 series and MAX E series. These are the small rubber seals at the plumbed joints between the display drain and the sump — the point where a slow weep is most likely to start once the original seals age and lose compression.
Key features
- Genuine Red Sea part R42187 — factory-matched to the original connector profile, not a generic hardware-store substitute.
- Reseals both sump pipe connectors on Reefer G1 and MAX E systems in one set.
- Cheap insurance against a wet cabinet — a full connector rebuild costs far less than the water damage a slow leak causes over months.
- No tools required — hand-fits over the existing pipe spigot once the old ring is removed.

Will it fit my system?
Red Sea lists this O-ring set specifically against the Reefer G1 and MAX E generations. If your system is a Reefer G2, G2+ or G3, the connector profile has changed since G1 and this isn't guaranteed to be the correct seal — check your system's generation (it's on the original packaging or your invoice) or contact us with your model before ordering, rather than guessing from tank size alone.
Fitting
Remove the old O-ring, clean the spigot and connector bore of any salt creep, and lightly lubricate the new ring with an aquarium-safe silicone grease before refitting. A dry ring is more likely to pinch and fail early than one that's been lubricated.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for anyone reseating or servicing the sump plumbing on a Reefer G1 or MAX E system, including as routine preventative maintenance if the originals haven't been changed in several years. Not the correct part for Reefer G2 or later systems — those use a different connector.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by your consumer guarantee rights under Australian Consumer Law. This is a small parcel item and ships standard.
Common questions
How do I know if my O-rings need replacing?
A slow weep or a damp patch at the connector joint under the sump, well before the seal fails outright, is the usual first sign.
Will this fit my Reefer G2 or G3?
Not confirmed — this set is specified by Red Sea against the G1 and MAX E connector, which differs from later generations. Check your model before ordering.
Do I need any tools to fit these?
No. They hand-fit once lubricated; no solvent welding or cutting is involved.
How many O-rings are in the set?
Red Sea sells this as a matched set sized for both sump pipe connectors on the system; an exact ring count isn't published, so if you need a specific quantity confirmed before ordering, ask us and we'll check with the supplier.
