Allow the full 153 cm system height plus ceiling clearance for lid removal and light servicing, and at least 10 cm behind the cabinet for return plumbing, the ATO reservoir line and cabling. At 1,000 L total volume this is a floor-loading item – water alone is roughly 1,000 kg before glass, cabinet, rock and substrate are added. Red Sea doesn't publish a filled weight figure for this model, so get the floor checked by a builder or engineer before it goes anywhere other than a slab or reinforced ground floor.

Red Sea doesn't publish a stand-alone flow rating for this sump, but the ReefRun G2 12000 is the return pump Red Sea itself fits to the MAX version of this exact tank – a reasonable starting reference if you're sourcing your own. The weir comb and skimmer chamber need periodic clearing of detritus. The ATO reservoir needs topping up with RO/DI water on its own schedule, separate from water changes.

Why does the title say "Complete System" if lighting and the pump aren't included?

This is Red Sea's base G2+ configuration – the display, cabinet, sump and auto top-off are what's fitted. It's a complete tank-and-cabinet platform, not a complete running reef; lighting, return pump and skimmer are sold separately or bundled in the MAX version.

What's the difference between this and the Reefer MAX S G2+ 1000?

This version is the display, cabinet, sump and ATO only. The MAX version adds four ReefLED G2 170 lights, two ReefWave 45 gyre pumps, a ReefRun G2 12000 return pump, a REEFER DC Skimmer 900 and a ReefMat 1200 filter roller, already fitted.

Is the floor under this tank a concern?

At 1,000 L total volume, yes – check with a builder or engineer, particularly on an upper floor. Red Sea doesn't publish a filled weight for this model; water alone is around 1,000 kg before cabinet, glass, rock and sand.

Does the black cabinet show dust and salt creep more than white?

Matte black shows dried salt creep and dust more visibly in bright light than white, though it hides scuffs and stand-mounted equipment cabling better. It's a maintenance-frequency trade-off, not a durability one.

Can I run this tank without buying Red Sea's own equipment?
