Red Sea ReefMat 250/500/1200 Gear motor
The direct-fit repair when the fleece stops advancing. This is Red Sea's genuine replacement gear motor for the ReefMat range — the DC motor and gearbox that physically drives the fleece roll forward. One part fits all three ReefMat sizes, so it's worth keeping on hand if you run a ReefMat and want the fix ready before a roll change gets missed.

Symptom this fixes
Fleece that won't advance even though the roll isn't empty and the sensors are clean — a stalled or worn motor is the usual cause once you've ruled out a jam in the spool path. Motor failure shows the same symptom as a mechanical jam, so it pays to check the spool path and clean the sensor before assuming the motor is at fault.
What it doesn't fit
This is the current-generation gear motor for the 250, 500 and 1200. If you have an older or discontinued ReefMat model, check with us before ordering — we haven't been able to confirm compatibility beyond the current three-model range.
Fitting it
A direct-fit replacement for the existing motor assembly. Basic tools only — no plumbing has to be disturbed. Before fitting, clear the fleece spool path of any jammed material and clean the internal sensor; a jam or a dirty sensor produces the same "won't advance" symptom as a genuinely failed motor, and it's the cheaper fix to rule out first.
Goes well with
- Red Sea ReefMat 1200 — one of the three models this motor fits.
- Genuine inlet hose and hose connector kit — worth checking at the same time if you're already into the plumbing.
Warranty and delivery

Common questions
How do I know it's the motor and not something else?
Check the spool path for a jam and clean the internal sensor first — both produce the same "fleece won't advance" symptom as a failed motor, and both are free to rule out.
Does one motor really fit all three ReefMat sizes?
Yes — the 250, 500 and 1200 share the same gear motor part.
Do I need to drain or unplumb the ReefMat to fit it?
No. It's a motor assembly swap, not a plumbing job.
