What's the difference between this and a basic thermometer?
A basic thermometer only shows the current reading. This one also remembers the highest and lowest temperatures recorded since you last hit reset, so you can check what happened overnight or during the hottest part of the day without having to watch it constantly.
Can I use it to check whether my thermostat is working properly?
Yes – that's one of its main uses. Reset it, leave it running for a full day-night cycle, then check the min and max against the range your thermostat is supposed to be holding.
How long is the probe cable?
