Zoo Med Hermit Crab Bright Bowl Neon Blue
One colour, one job: giving a hermit crab clean food or water without the drowning risk. The Zoo Med Hermit Crab Bright Bowl in Neon Blue is a shallow, easy-clean dish for food, fresh water or marine salt water, sized so a crab can climb in and back out safely.
Key features
- Low, shallow sides – built for safe entry and exit, unlike deep dishes that can trap a crab and cause it to drown.
- Rated for food, fresh water or salt water – Zoo Med markets one bowl per water type; don't switch a single bowl between the two.
- Easy to keep clean – a smooth moulded finish Zoo Med describes as hygienic and washable.
- Bright neon blue – visible against substrate and easy to tell apart from a second bowl in another colour.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for: land hermit crabs, as a single-purpose food, fresh water or marine salt water dish in a terrestrial crabitat.
- Not suitable for: covering both water needs on its own – a crab kept with only this bowl will be missing either fresh water or salt water, both of which it needs permanently available.
Care and maintenance
Empty, rinse and refill daily. If used for salt water, mix a proper marine salt blend to the correct gravity rather than adding table salt to tap water – this is a common and serious mistake with land hermit crabs.
Goes well with
- A second Bright Bowl (Neon Red) so fresh and salt water are never mixed up
- A dechlorinating water conditioner
- A marine salt mix and hydrometer
- Zoo Med Hermit Crab Growth Shells
Warranty and delivery
Standard Zoo Med retail warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard freight.
Common questions
Should I buy one bowl or two?
Two, in different colours if possible. A hermit crab needs fresh water and marine salt water available at all times, in two separate dishes.
Can my crab swim or soak in this bowl?
It's designed to be shallow, so a crab can drink and wet its gills without the risk of drowning in deep, straight-sided water. It isn't intended as a full soaking bath.
What's the capacity of this bowl?
Zoo Med doesn't publish an exact volume for this dish. We've noted this for follow-up rather than estimating a figure.
Is Neon Blue functionally different from Neon Red?
No – same bowl, same use, different colour. Many keepers use colour to tell their fresh water and salt water bowls apart at a glance.
