Zoo Med Hermit Crab Bright Bowl Neon Red
A crab that can't easily climb out of its water dish is a crab at risk. The Zoo Med Hermit Crab Bright Bowl in Neon Red is a shallow food and water dish shaped for safe, easy entry and exit, sized for land hermit crabs rather than aquarium fish.
Key features
- Shallow profile – reduces the drowning risk that comes with deep, steep-sided containers not designed for crabs.
- Three uses, one bowl at a time – food, fresh water or marine salt water; Zoo Med recommends a dedicated bowl per purpose rather than switching one bowl between them.
- Hygienic, washable finish – quick to rinse out between refills.
- High-visibility neon red – easy to spot in a naturalistic, substrate-heavy crabitat.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for: land hermit crabs as a food, fresh water, or marine salt water dish.
- Not suitable for: a crab's sole water source – pair it with a second bowl of the other water type, since fresh and salt water both need to be available permanently.
Care and maintenance
Refill daily. Fresh water should be treated with a dechlorinating conditioner rated safe for invertebrates; salt water should be mixed with a proper marine salt blend, not table salt. Wipe clean between fills.
Goes well with
- A second Bright Bowl (Neon Blue) for the other water type
- Dechlorinating conditioner
- Marine salt mix and hydrometer
- Zoo Med Hermit Crab Growth Shells
Warranty and delivery
Standard Zoo Med retail warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard freight.
Common questions
Is one bowl enough?
No. Land hermit crabs need constant access to both fresh water and marine salt water, so plan on two bowls – this one plus a second, ideally in a different colour.
Will my crab drown in this dish?
Unlikely if used as intended – the shallow shape lets a crab climb out easily. Deep, straight-sided containers are the real drowning risk, not shallow dishes like this one.
Does the colour affect how the crab uses the bowl?
No – colour is cosmetic. It exists mainly to help keepers, not crabs, tell the fresh and salt water bowls apart.
Where can I find the bowl's exact dimensions?
Zoo Med doesn't publish them on the current product listing. We've flagged this rather than guessing, so if you need an exact fit check before buying, ask us and we'll measure stock on hand.
