Zoo Med Nano Banquet Feeding Block ( 6 )
Feeds a nano tank while you're away, without fouling the water. Zoo Med Nano Banquet Food Blocks (model BB-9) are slow-release feeding blocks sized for nano aquariums, each lasting roughly 3–4 days depending on stocking and water conditions. This pack contains six 8.5 g blocks.
Built around plankton and Spirulina algae meal rather than fillers, and formulated not to cloud the water. Suits nano freshwater and saltwater fish, shrimp, snails and algae eaters during short absences.
Key features
- 6 blocks, 8.5 g each — one block per absence, sized for nano tanks rather than a full aquarium.
- Lasts 3–4 days per block — timing depends on the number of animals and water conditions, so test it before a longer trip.
- Plankton and Spirulina algae meal base — a marine-protein and algae source rather than a generic filler.
- No artificial colours.
- Won't cloud water — formulated to dissolve slowly rather than break apart into the water column.

Calcium sulfate is the block's binding base, which is why calcium reads high against a typical flake or pellet food. This is a slow-release feeding block for short absences, not a substitute for a staple diet.
Dosage and directions
Place one block in the aquarium per absence. Add a second block for a heavily stocked tank. Keep aeration and filtration running while the block dissolves, and remove any uneaten remnant when you return.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for nano freshwater and saltwater fish, shrimp, snails and algae eaters during short absences of a few days. Not intended as an everyday staple diet — feed a normal flake, pellet or algae wafer on the days you're home.
Warranty and delivery
Zoo Med doesn't publish a shelf life or storage-after-opening figure for this SKU. Store in a cool, dry place and check the pack for a best-by date. Your rights under Australian Consumer Law apply regardless. Standard shipping applies.
Common questions
How long does one block last?
Roughly 3–4 days, depending on how many animals are in the tank and general water conditions. Check on it before extending a trip.
Will it cloud the water?
No — Zoo Med formulates it to dissolve slowly rather than break apart, so it shouldn't cloud the tank the way overfed flake food can.
Can I use it in a saltwater tank?
Yes — it's formulated for both freshwater and saltwater nano aquariums.
Should I keep feeding normally while it's in the tank?
No — it's designed as a short-absence feed. Go back to your normal flake, pellet or algae wafer feeding once you're home.
