Zoo Med Nano LED 5w

Bright daylight LED sized for the smallest enclosures. This 5 W LED bulb produces natural white light for nano and small terrariums, bringing out the true colours of animals and live plants while running far cooler than an incandescent globe. It is a visible-light lamp only, with no heat or UVB output, so it fits neatly alongside your enclosure's dedicated heat and UVB lighting. Suited to small geckos, hatchling reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates such as tarantulas.

Will it fit my enclosure?

This bulb uses Zoo Med's own nano-format base, designed to fit Zoo Med's Nano Dome and Nano Combo fixtures rather than a standard household screw fitting. Check your fixture is from the Zoo Med Nano range before ordering.

Suitable for / not suitable for

Suitable as a daytime viewing and plant-growth light for small geckos, hatchling reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates such as tarantulas kept in nano or small terrariums. This is a visible-light bulb only: it does not produce meaningful heat and does not emit UVB. Reptiles that need a basking temperature gradient or UVB exposure still require separate, dedicated heat and UVB lamps run alongside this light.

Care and maintenance

Zoo Med describes this as a long-life LED, so it does not need the frequent bulb changes typical of heat or UVB globes. Keep the outer casing and dome reflector free of dust so full brightness reaches the enclosure, and check the bulb still lights each time you service the terrarium.

Goes well with

Reptiles and amphibians that require UVB should be kept under a separate, dedicated UVB lamp, and species needing supplemental warmth should have their own basking or heat lamp, ideally on a thermostat. This Nano LED is designed to complement those lamps, not replace them.

Warranty and delivery

Zoo Med states a 3-month manufacturer warranty on this bulb.

Common questions

Does this bulb provide heat?

No. It is a low-wattage LED that runs cool and is not intended as a heat source. Use a separate heat lamp if your animal needs supplemental warmth.

Does this bulb provide UVB?

No. It produces visible light only. Reptiles that require UVB for calcium metabolism need a dedicated UVB lamp in addition to this light.

What fixture does it fit?

It is designed for Zoo Med's Nano-format fixtures, such as the Nano Dome and Nano Combo Lamp Fixture, rather than a standard household fitting.

What size enclosure suits this bulb?

It is sized for nano and small terrariums housing small geckos, hatchling reptiles, amphibians or invertebrates.

Will it help my live plants grow?

Zoo Med markets this LED as suitable for supporting live plant growth in small planted terrariums, alongside its role as a daytime viewing light.

How long does the LED last?

Zoo Med describes it as a long-life LED but has not published an exact lifespan figure for this model, so we are unable to give a specific hours rating.
