Colour & specimen: This fish's colouration may look different in your own tank depending on your lighting, diet, stress levels and water conditions, and can vary between individual fish of the same species. You will not receive this exact fish pictured; the one you receive will be a similar size, colour and condition.

Zoo Med Plankton Banquet Feeding Block
A slow-dissolving feeding block that keeps shy bottom feeders and problem eaters fed for days, without a daily feeding routine. Zoo Med's Plankton Banquet Feeding Block is a plankton and spirulina based food that gradually dissolves in the aquarium, giving grazing fish like plecos, algae eaters and gouramis a steady food source around the clock.
Key features
- Plankton and spirulina based formula — built around marine plankton and spirulina algae meal rather than a generic flake mix.
- Slow, time-release dissolving block — feeds continuously rather than all at once, so food doesn't cloud the water in a single dump.
- Two sizes for different tanks — the Regular block suits roughly 15–20 average-sized fish, the Mini suits smaller tanks or lighter feeding needs.
- Good for problem feeders — plecos, algae eaters, redtail sharks, gouramis, tangs, angels and damsels that don't compete well for flake or pellet food.
- Freshwater and saltwater safe — the same formula suits both types of aquarium.

Setup, use and feeding
Drop the block onto the substrate or wedge it among rockwork where grazing fish can reach it. For territorial or aggressive tank-mates, place more than one block at different points around the aquarium floor rather than relying on a single feeding spot. One Regular block feeds roughly 15–20 average-sized aquarium fish. Do not use in bowls or aquariums without aeration or filtration running.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for freshwater and saltwater aquariums with grazing or problem-feeding species — plecos, algae eaters, redtail sharks, gouramis, tangs, angelfish and damsels — and as a supplementary food source for fry. Not a substitute for a filtered, aerated aquarium; Zoo Med states the block should not be used in bowls or tanks without filtration and aeration.
Warranty and delivery
A standard shelf-stable food item — store in a cool, dry place before use. Covered by your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard parcel delivery.
Common questions
How long does each size last?
The Regular block dissolves over about 7–8 days. The Mini is Zoo Med's smaller, shorter-duration size and lasts about 3–4 days — it's suited to smaller tanks or lighter supplementary feeding, not a scaled-down version of the same schedule.
Can I use this in a saltwater tank?
Yes — the formula is suitable for both freshwater and saltwater aquariums.
Will this cloud my water?
It's designed to dissolve slowly rather than break apart all at once, which limits clouding compared with loose food. As with any feeding block, keep filtration and aeration running while it's in the tank.
Can I use more than one block at a time?
Yes — Zoo Med recommends placing multiple blocks at different points on the aquarium floor in tanks with territorial or aggressive fish, so every fish can reach one.
