MarinePure

Surface area is the whole story with MarinePure, a ceramic biological filter media made in Buffalo, New York by CerMedia. The material is an inert aluminosilicate ceramic fired above 1000 degrees, with open, interconnected pores that give nitrifying bacteria enormous room to settle while still letting water pass through the piece. That handles ammonia and nitrite, and in the low oxygen centre of a larger block it can also help lower nitrate, though CerMedia notes that depends on the system. We stock the Block and Plate for sumps, Spheres and PODs for media baskets and canisters, the pellet sized GEMS and freshwater Fresh GEMS for hang on and nano filters, the Vault, and a mesh bag for loose pieces.

Rinse new media in tank water rather than tap water, and add it to an established filter instead of swapping everything at once.
