Reef Pure RO is based in Petrie, just up the road from our North Lakes store, and describes its systems as built by reefers, for reefers. The 4 Stage Essentials+ unit runs tap water through a 5 micron sediment filter, a 5 micron carbon block, a reverse osmosis (RO) membrane and a colour changing mixed bed DI resin. DI means deionisation, the final polish that takes the water to zero total dissolved solids (TDS). Each stage is sold as a replacement, and the resin changes colour as it is used up. Reef Pure also makes a Dual Media Reactor for phosphate remover or carbon, and a Dual CO2 Reactor that strips carbon dioxide from the air feeding a protein skimmer, which helps lift a low pH.
Watch the TDS reading on the outlet and change the resin when it climbs off zero.
