Triton is a German and Australian family owned reef science company, founded in Düsseldorf in 2008, that made laboratory water testing available to reef keepers. The ICP-OES Test, short for inductively coupled plasma optical emission spectrometry, measures 45 parameters in one sample at parts per billion precision, from calcium and magnesium down to trace metals a colour chart kit cannot show. You fill the sample tube from your tank and send it to a Triton laboratory, and the results come back with dosing recommendations. The N-DOC Test adds what ICP leaves out, dissolved organic carbon and nitrogen, for tanks where corals struggle on otherwise normal numbers.
Test on a schedule rather than in a panic, because a run of results shows a trend that one sample cannot.
