Aqua Medic Smart Drift 11.1 Current Pump-16,000L/H
Aqua Medic's largest Smart Drift, built for tanks up to 1,500 litres. The Smart Drift 11.1 is a magnetic-drive circulation pump rated up to 16,000 L/h, the flagship of the three-unit Smart Drift range.
It's sized for large reef and freshwater systems where a single powerful, controllable pump is doing the circulation work that several smaller units would otherwise need to share.
Key features
- Up to 16,000 L/h — continuously adjustable from the controller or the Aqua Medic App, with Classic, Sine, Random Wave, Constant and Feed modes.
- WiFi app control — connects over 2.4GHz WiFi to the Aqua Medic App (not Bluetooth or 5GHz).
- 10–35 W power draw — 24V DC pump head, run through the included 100–240V/50–60Hz transformer, which accepts Australian 230V/50Hz mains.
- Magnetic mount — holds through glass up to 15mm thick, the deepest rating in the range.
- Multi-pump sync — master–slave and cross-flow patterns across two or more Smart Drift units, including mixed models.
- Fully submersible — rated IP X8.
- Feed mode — pauses flow for a set feeding period from the app.

Performance — controllable flow range
Like the rest of the Smart Drift range, the 11.1 runs across a continuously adjustable range from the controller or app rather than a single fixed 16,000 L/h output. Aqua Medic documents a 30–100% adjustable range on the smaller Smart Drift 3.1; the company doesn't publish an exact minimum L/h figure for the 11.1 itself, so treat the low end as flexible rather than a stated number — this is a pump built to be tuned down for maintenance access or feeding, not just run flat out.
Which Smart Drift do I need?
| Model | Max flow | Power | Recommended tank | Body size | Max glass |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Smart Drift 3.1 | 4,600 L/h | 3–15 W | Up to 300 L | Ø65 × 55mm | 10 mm |
| Smart Drift 7.1 | 10,500 L/h | 8–25 W | Up to 800 L | Ø75 × 65mm | 12 mm |
| Smart Drift 11.1 | 16,000 L/h | 10–35 W | Up to 1,500 L | Ø85 × 70mm | 15 mm |
Step up to the 11.1 from the 7.1 when your tank passes roughly 800 L, or when you need the 15mm glass rating for a thicker-walled large tank regardless of volume. It's a larger physical pump than the 7.1, not the same unit at a higher setting.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for large freshwater and marine systems up to roughly 1,500 L. Overkill — and unnecessarily expensive to run — for a tank the 3.1 or 7.1 would comfortably handle; check the tank-size guide above before sizing up.
Goes well with
Sync two 11.1 units for cross-flow in a very large or irregularly shaped tank, or combine one 11.1 with a smaller Smart Drift in a connected sump or frag system.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Aqua Medic's manufacturer warranty in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Standard delivery.
Common questions
Is the Smart Drift 11.1 overkill for a 500 L tank?
Not necessarily on flow — it's adjustable well below its 16,000 L/h maximum — but the 7.1 is rated for tanks up to 800 L at a lower price and power draw, so it's usually the better fit unless you specifically need the 11.1's 15mm glass rating.
Can I sync it with a smaller Smart Drift model?
Yes — the Aqua Medic App supports master–slave and cross-flow sync across mixed Smart Drift models.
What modes does the app offer?
Classic (pulse/circulation), Sine, Random Wave, Constant flow, and a dedicated Feed mode that pauses circulation for feeding.
Is it fully submersible?
Yes — Aqua Medic rates the 11.1 at IP X8.
