How often should I replace it?
Aqua Ultraviolet's own instruction manual specifies replacement after 14 months of continuous use. Many retailers and keepers work to a simpler yearly schedule instead, since UV-C output drops gradually well before the tube stops glowing – either way, don't judge it by whether the lamp still looks lit.
Handling
Handle by the base rather than the glass, and avoid touching the tube with bare skin – oils on the glass reduce UV-C transmission.

Common questions
My steriliser still glows blue – do I really need a new lamp?
Yes. UV-C output fades well before the visible glow does, so a lamp on the far side of its 12–14 month life can look fine while barely dosing the water.
Does the quartz sleeve need replacing at the same time?
Not necessarily – check the sleeve separately for fogging, scaling or cracks. Aqua Ultraviolet lists the 25W and 57W Twist quartz sleeves as separate part numbers (A10025 and A10057), so confirm which one your unit takes before ordering; if you're not sure, ask us and we'll check your model.
