AutoAqua Smart Level Security
Cuts the power to one piece of equipment when the water goes where it should not. The AutoAqua Smart Level Security (model SLS-120, EU/UK/AU version) is a water level alarm with its own switched power point, called the Smart AC Switch. An optical sensor (it detects water using light rather than a float) mounts magnetically on the tank or sump. When it is triggered, the unit shuts off the equipment plugged into the AC Switch and sounds an audible and visual alarm straight away.
Key features
- High level or low level: mount the sensor above the water line to catch an overflow, or below it to catch a falling level. There is nothing to set.
- Shuts off and alarms together, so the fault stops instead of only making a noise.
- Magnetic mount that works on clear, tinted or painted surfaces up to 12.7 mm thick.
- Auto time delay to avoid false alarms after a power outage. AutoAqua's manual gives a 2 minute power on delay and a 2 minute detection delay.
- Plug and play: mount the sensor, plug your equipment into the AC Switch, then plug the AC Switch in.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable as an independent flood cut-off for an auto top-off (a unit that tops up evaporated water), or as a low level cut-off to stop a return pump running dry when a sump level falls. Not suitable for loads over 10 A or 2200 W, for panels thicker than 12.7 mm, or for sensor positions with microbubbles or direct light on the sensor, which AutoAqua says to avoid. It protects one device at a time and is not a replacement for an RCD (safety switch).
Care
When the alarm goes off, unplug the AC Switch first, then find and fix the cause before plugging it back in. Test the sensor from time to time by moving it into or out of the water by hand and checking the equipment switches off.
Safety
Keep the AC Switch dry and above splash height, use a drip loop (a downward loop in each cord so water runs off before the plug) and run the aquarium circuit through an RCD.
Warranty and delivery
AutoAqua's SLS-120 manual gives a two year warranty from the purchase date, under proper installation and normal use, with proof of purchase, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships by standard parcel post.
