Bioscape Tropic Air Pump 8000 4 Outlet w/ 4 Check Valves
Four adjustable outlets from one quiet pump, built for multi-tank fish rooms. The Bioscape Tropic Air Pump 8000 (BIS55) delivers a combined 720 L/h (12 L/min) of air across four independently adjustable outlets, enough to run a rack of sponge filters, several airstones or more than one tank from a single power point, and it ships with four check valves fitted.
Key features
- 720 L/h combined output across 4 outlets – enough headroom for a genuine multi-tank setup, not just one tank with airlines to spare.
- Individually adjustable outlets – balance flow per line so a small nano tank and a big sump don't fight each other on the same pump.
- Four check valves included – one per outlet, so a power cut on any line doesn't siphon tank water back into the pump.
- Diaphragm motor rated for continuous duty – designed to run 24 hours a day, not cycle on and off.
- Freshwater and marine safe – moves air only, so it's safe across both water types and across different tanks on the same pump.

Performance
720 L/h is the combined rated output across all four outlets, measured at the pump's normal operating depth. Bioscape does not publish a per-outlet output-against-depth or back-pressure curve for this model. In practice, running all four outlets at once and at depth in a tall tank will draw the total below 720 L/h – the adjustable flow control on each outlet is there so you can rebalance rather than expect the rated figure on every line simultaneously.
Which Tropic air pump do I need?
The 8000 is the top of the Tropic air pump range and the one to reach for once you're past a single small tank. If you only run one tank under about 45 L, the single-outlet Tropic 500 is the simpler and cheaper option.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for a large single tank running several airlines, a sump, or several smaller tanks sharing one pump – the kind of fish-room setup where a single-outlet pump would mean buying and plugging in three or four separate units. Not suitable as a substitute for a proper return pump or powerhead where actual water flow, not aeration, is what's needed.
What's included
The pump body and four in-line check valves, one per outlet. It does not include airline tubing, airstones, a manifold beyond the four built-in outlets, or a control valve – those are added separately.
Safety
Mains-powered – position the pump above the highest waterline it's connected to and never submerge it. The four check valves protect each line individually, but on tanks where the pump sits below the waterline, add the standard second layer of protection: mount the pump as high as practical.
Goes well with
- Airline tubing and a distribution manifold – for splitting each of the four outlets further if you're running many airstones.
- Airstones or air diffusers – one per outlet for fine, even bubbles.
- Sponge filters – a common load for a multi-outlet pump across breeding or quarantine tanks.
- Individual control valves – for finer adjustment than the pump's built-in outlet controls on long or high-restriction lines.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Bioscape's manufacturer warranty against defects, in addition to your rights under Australian Consumer Law.
Common questions
Can I run four different tanks off one Tropic 8000?
Yes – that's the main reason to buy it over four single-outlet pumps. Each outlet adjusts independently, so tanks with different airline lengths or restrictions can be balanced individually.
Will output drop if I only use two of the four outlets?
Running fewer outlets generally means more air available to the ones in use, since the total output isn't being split as many ways – though Bioscape doesn't publish exact per-outlet figures to confirm the split precisely.
Does it need a manifold to use all four outlets?
No – the four outlets are already separate ports on the pump body, so each takes its own airline directly.
Is it rated for a marine sump?
Yes – it only moves air, so it's safe to plumb into freshwater or marine systems, including a sump running alongside a display tank.
