Exo Terra Breeding Box
A ventilated, stackable box for hatchlings, breeding pairs or quarantine. The Exo Terra Breeding Box is a clear plastic enclosure with a front feeding door and angled side ventilation, built for raising hatchlings, isolating an animal, or running a breeding or quarantine setup where several boxes need to stack. It's available in Small, Medium and Large.
Key features
- Feeding door in the lid – feed and water without lifting the whole lid, even when boxes are stacked.
- Angled side ventilation – keeps airflow moving through the box, including when it's stacked under others.
- Fully clear construction – check on an animal at a glance without opening the box.
- Stackable design – built for breeding racks and display shelving where space is tight.
- Lightweight and easy to clean – wipe out with water or a mild detergent between uses.
Which size do I need?
| Size | SKU | Dimensions (L x W x H) |
|---|---|---|
| Small | BA4756 | 20.5 x 20.5 x 14.5 cm |
| Medium | BA4757 | 30.2 x 19.6 x 14.7 cm |
| Large | BA4758 | 41.5 x 26.5 x 14.8 cm |
Small suits hatchlings, small feeder colonies or short-term isolation. Medium and Large give more floor space for a longer-term isolation setup, a bigger breeding group, or a temporary home while a main enclosure is being cleaned or treated.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suited to hatchling reptiles and amphibians, small geckos and frogs, tarantulas and other invertebrates, and as a temporary isolation, breeding or quarantine box. Not designed as a long-term home for an adult animal that needs a fully furnished, heated or lit display enclosure – it's a functional box, not a bioactive setup.
Care and maintenance
Clean with water or a mild detergent and a soft cloth. Avoid polish, thinners or alcohol-based solvents, which can cloud or damage the plastic. Don't run a heat source inside the box – keep it in a room that's already at the temperature your animal needs.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by your rights under Australian Consumer Law. Ships standard.
Goes well with
- Paper towel or a simple substrate suited to the species being housed
- A small water and food dish sized to fit the box
- A room thermometer, since the box itself has no heating or lighting
Common questions
Can I stack multiple boxes?
Yes – the angled ventilation is designed to keep working even when boxes are stacked, and the feeding door lets you feed and water lower boxes without unstacking them.
Does it come with a heat source or light?
No. It's an unheated, unlit box – keep it in a room already at the right temperature for the species, and add heating or lighting separately if your setup needs it.
What's the difference between the three sizes?
Floor space and depth. Small is the most compact at 20.5 x 20.5 x 14.5 cm; Medium and Large step up in length and width for bigger groups or longer-term use.
Can I use this for invertebrates as well as reptiles?
Yes – the manufacturer lists suitability for tarantulas and other invertebrates alongside hatchling reptiles and amphibians.
