Exo Terra Forest Plant Ficus

Soft, silk foliage that holds its shape without a hard plastic feel. The Exo Terra Forest Plant Ficus is a silk terrarium plant modelled on the glossy, layered leaves of a live ficus, giving a naturalistic look and a softer texture than the plastic plants in the same range. It's built on a bendable stem for shaping around branches and backgrounds, and it's sold in Medium and Large sizes.

Key features
  • Silk leaf construction — a softer, more lifelike texture and drape than a rigid plastic plant.
  • Bendable stem — position and reshape it around branches, cork bark and other décor.
  • Non-toxic materials — safe for enclosures housing reptiles and amphibians that may brush against or explore it.
  • Rinse-clean — wash under water when soiled; suited to routine enclosure cleaning and disinfection.
  • Pairs with live plants — fills gaps in a bioactive setup or covers spots real plants won't hold in, such as near a heat source.

Size SKU Manufacturer code Barcode
Medium RP61 PT3040 015561230407
Large RP64 PT3050 015561230506

The manufacturer doesn't publish exact leaf or stem dimensions for this range — Medium and Large are relative size bands rather than stated measurements, so choose against your enclosure footprint.

Which size do I need?

Medium suits a standard glass terrarium as a single feature plant or one of several smaller pieces. Large is sized for bigger enclosures or as the dominant plant in a naturalistic display, where a smaller piece would look sparse against tall background panels or branch décor.

Suitable for, and not suitable for

Suitable for dry terrariums housing reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates, including quarantine setups where real plants aren't practical. Not intended as a basking platform or climbing perch — the silk leaves won't support sustained weight the way cork bark or a branch will.

Care and maintenance

Rinse under water when soiled. The silk leaves are more delicate to the touch than the plastic plants in the range, but the manufacturer states the material can still be disinfected as part of routine enclosure cleaning.

Goes well with
  • Exo Terra Forest Plant Croton, Mandarin or Ruscus — combine textures and species for a fuller display
  • Cork bark or branch décor to give climbing species a surface the plant itself doesn't provide
  • A background panel or vine to anchor taller stems against

Common questions

Is silk foliage as durable as the plastic Exo Terra plants?

It's designed for the same rinse-and-disinfect care, but the leaves have a softer, more delicate feel than the plastic range — expect it to hold up well to normal enclosure use rather than rough handling.

Will my reptile be safe around it?

Yes — the manufacturer states the material is non-toxic, though it isn't a chew toy or food item.

Can this go in a bioactive enclosure with live plants?

Yes, it's designed to combine with live planting, filling gaps or covering spots where real plants haven't established.

Why is there no Small size for the Ficus?

The range is sold in Medium and Large only — if you need a smaller piece, the Croton or Mandarin plants in the same collection are available in a Small size.
