Exo Terra Turtle Bank
A dry basking dock that rises and falls with the water. The Exo Terra Turtle Bank is a magnetic floating platform that holds position against the aquarium glass while floating freely on the surface, so your turtle always has a dry, ramp-accessible spot to bask under a heat lamp and UVB source — whatever the water level.
Key features
- Magnetic mounting, included — holds the platform against the glass without suction cups or drilling; the float still rises and falls freely with the water level.
- Self-adjusting float — tracks the water level automatically, so the dry deck stays dry through top-ups and evaporation.
- Submerged access ramp — lets turtles climb out under their own power rather than needing to be lifted.
- Three sizes — Small, Medium and Large, sized to the turtle and the tank rather than one platform for everything.
Specifications — all sizes
| Size | Part number | Dimensions (W x D x H) | SKU |
|---|---|---|---|
| Small | PT3800 | 16.6 x 12.4 x 3.3 cm | RP192 |
| Medium | PT3801 | 29.8 x 17.8 x 5.4 cm | RP193 |
| Large | PT3802 | 40.6 x 24.0 x 7.0 cm | RP194 |
Mounting is magnetic, using the magnets included with the platform — not suction cups.
Which size do I need?
Match the platform to the turtle, not just the tank: a hatchling on a Large bank can struggle to climb the ramp comfortably, while an adult turtle on a Small platform will overhang the dry deck. As a rough guide, Small suits hatchlings and small species, Medium suits growing juveniles and mid-sized adults, and Large suits full-sized adult aquatic turtles that need real room to turn around and bask.
Suitable for — and not suitable for
Suited to aquatic and semi-aquatic turtles that need a genuine dry basking spot separate from the water. Not a substitute for correctly sized heat and UVB fixtures — the platform gives the turtle somewhere dry to sit under them, it doesn't provide heat or UV itself. If a turtle is heavy enough to dip the float underwater, move up a size.
Setup and use
Position the magnetic mount away from strong filter outflow, which can otherwise push the platform around or swamp the dry deck. Mount a basking lamp and a UVB source above the dry end — check the lamp's own temperature-by-distance and UV-index-by-distance tables against the gap between the water surface and your fixture, since that gap changes as the float rises and falls.
Care and maintenance
Wipe the platform down during routine tank cleaning to keep the basking surface clean and free of algae film, which can make the ramp slippery. Check the magnetic hold periodically, particularly in tanks with strong water movement.
Goes well with
- A basking lamp and UVB source sized to your tank and turtle species.
- A thermostat or timer for the basking lamp, if your fixture doesn't include one.
- Exo Terra Turtle Clean, for routine water maintenance in aquatic turtle tanks.

Common questions
Does the Turtle Bank use suction cups or magnets?
Magnets, included with the platform. It holds against the aquarium glass magnetically while floating freely on the water surface.
Will it stay dry as I top up evaporated water?
Yes — the float is self-adjusting and rises and falls with the water level, so the dry deck stays above the surface.
What size turtle suits the Small platform?
Hatchlings and small species. Move up to Medium or Large as your turtle grows, or if it's overhanging the dry deck.
Does it come with a heat lamp or UVB light?
No — it's a basking platform only. Choose a heat and UVB source separately, sized to your tank and species.
