Pellets young turtles keep eating as they grow. Exo Terra Turtle Food Juvenile Floating Pellets are a complete diet for juvenile aquatic and semi-aquatic turtles — red-eared sliders, map turtles, wood turtles and similar species — in a buoyant pellet that stays at the surface where young turtles naturally feed. Multiple calcium sources and added vitamin D3 support the shell growth that matters most at this life stage.

Key features
  • 35% crude protein — a step down from the 43% Hatchling formula as growth naturally slows, in a pellet still sized and buoyant for surface feeding.
  • Floats at the surface — matches natural feeding behaviour and keeps uneaten pellets visible for easy removal.
  • Calcium and vitamin D3 fortified — supports ongoing shell and bone development.
  • Two pack sizes — 265 g and 560 g, so you can buy to match how many turtles you're feeding.

Which size do I need?

The 265 g tub suits a single juvenile turtle or a light feeding routine. Step up to the 560 g tub if you're feeding more than one turtle, or simply want fewer reorders — same formula, more pellets per gram of packaging.

Contains ethoxyquin as a preservative for the fish oil component, and soy — worth noting if you're managing allergies or intolerances in the household handling the food, though it isn't a concern for the turtle.

Feeding directions

Feed as much as your turtles can eat in five minutes, twice daily, and remove uneaten pellets after about an hour. Move up from the Hatchling formula once your turtle has outgrown the micro-pellet size, and step up to the Adult formula as growth slows.

Suitable for — and not suitable for

Suitable for juvenile aquatic and semi-aquatic turtles. Not intended for hatchlings, whose smaller mouths need the micro-pellet Hatchling formula, or for adults, who have moved on to Exo Terra's separate Adult formula.

Goes well with
  • Exo Terra Turtle Food Hatchling Floating Pellets, for turtles not yet ready to move up.
  • A basking platform and UVB lighting — both essential to healthy shell development alongside diet.
  • A water test kit, to keep an eye on water quality between feeds.
Warranty and delivery

Common questions

What's the difference between the 265 g and 560 g tubs?

Same juvenile formula — the 560 g tub is simply more pellets for feeding more turtles or reordering less often.

When should I move up to the Adult formula?

As your turtle reaches adult size, switch to Exo Terra's Adult floating pellets — the next stage in the same range.

Does this contain soy or ethoxyquin?

Yes to both — soy flour is an ingredient, and the fish oil component is preserved with ethoxyquin. Exo Terra doesn't offer a soy-free or ethoxyquin-free version of this formula.

How much should I feed?

Offer only as much as your turtles can finish within five minutes, twice a day, and remove any leftovers after about an hour to protect water quality.
