Exo Terra Turtle Habitat Cleaning Kit

Two tools that cover routine turtle-tank cleaning in one kit. The Exo Terra Turtle Habitat Cleaning Kit (sold by Exo Terra as the Turtle Clear Aquatic Habitat Cleaning Kit) pairs a pump-start gravel siphon with a 2-in-1 algae removal tool, so you can pull waste out of the gravel bed and clear algae and mineral deposits from the glass in one maintenance session.

Key features
  • Pump-start gravel siphon – an 18" cleaning tube on a 5' non-kinking hose, with a gravel guard so pebbles and decor aren't pulled into the outflow while you lift waste out of the substrate.
  • 2-in-1 algae removal tool – a 16" (40 cm) handle combining a pivoting scrubber pad for algae and sludge with a scraper blade for stubborn mineral deposits.
  • Pivoting scrubber head – keeps more of the pad in contact with curved or awkward glass surfaces.
  • Built for aquatic turtle habitats – sized and designed around the heavier waste load turtles produce compared with fish alone.
What's included
  • 1x pump-start gravel siphon (18" tube, 5' hose, gravel guard)
  • 1x 2-in-1 algae removal tool (16" / 40 cm handle, scrubber pad and scraper blade)

You'll still want a bucket on hand to catch the water and waste the siphon draws out – it isn't part of the kit.

Suitable for – and not suitable for

Suited to routine maintenance of aquatic turtle tanks and aqua-terrariums – siphoning waste from the gravel bed during water changes, and scraping algae and mineral deposits off glass. The scraper blade is not intended for use on plastic or acrylic panels, since it can scratch softer surfaces – use the scrubber pad side there instead.

Care and maintenance

Rinse both tools in clean water after use and allow them to dry before storing. Replace the scrubber pad if it becomes worn or stops lifting algae effectively (sold separately).

Common questions

What's included in the kit?

A pump-start gravel siphon (18" tube, 5' hose, gravel guard) and a 2-in-1 algae removal tool (16" handle with a scrubber pad and a scraper blade). A bucket isn't included.

Can I use the scraper blade on acrylic or plastic?

No – the scraper blade isn't intended for plastic surfaces and can scratch them. Use the scrubber pad side on acrylic or plastic instead.

Does the siphon need priming?

It's a pump-start design – you squeeze the priming bulb to get water flowing rather than sucking on the tube to start it.

Will this fit a small turtle tub as well as a large tank?

Exo Terra doesn't publish a minimum or maximum tank size for this kit, so we can't give you an exact cut-off – the 5' hose and 18" tube suit most home aquatic turtle setups.
