Fluval 04/05/06 Series Hose Lock Nuts (2)
The collars that clamp the hosing onto the filter and keep the joint dry. Fluval hose-lock nuts are the threaded rings that screw down over the ribbed hosing where it meets the AquaStop valve, squeezing the tubing onto the barb so the connection holds under suction. A cross-threaded or split nut is a slow weep behind the cabinet, and it is the part most often damaged when hosing is forced off for a clean. This is genuine Hagen part A20059, supplied as a pair.
Key features
- Genuine Fluval A20059 – the number in Fluval's own 06 Series parts list
- Two nuts per pack – enough to do the intake and output sides together
- Hand-tight only – no tools, no clamps, nothing to over-torque
- Restores even pressure – on tubing that has been squashed out of round

Will it fit my filter?
The model number is on the canister body and under the motor head. Fluval documents the A20059 against these eight models.
| Series | Models |
|---|---|
| 06 Series | 106, 206, 306, 406 |
| 07 Series | 107, 207, 307, 407 |
Fluval's parts documentation does not list the A20059 against the 04 Series (104, 204, 304, 404) or the 05 Series (105, 205, 305, 405). If you run one of those, compare the thread with your existing nut before ordering.
The nut clamps but does not seal. The seal is made by the hosing on the barb of the rubber hose connector, a separate part – A20016 on the 106 and 206, A20017 on the 306 and 406.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suits a nut that is cross-threaded, cracked, or will not pull down evenly
- Suits a joint that weeps a slow drip at the AquaStop after a service
- Not a cure for split or hardened hosing – replace the tubing as well
- Not a fix for a leak at the motor head clamp, which is the head O-ring
What's included
- Two hose-lock nuts
Hosing, the AquaStop valve and the rubber hose connectors are separate parts.
Goes well with
- Rubber hose connector A20016 – the barbed connector for the 106 and 206
- Rubber hose connector A20017 – the barbed connector for the 306 and 406
- Aquarium rim connector (A20026) – takes the strain off the hose ends at the rim

Common questions
Which Fluval filters do the A20059 hose-lock nuts fit?
The Fluval A20059 hose-lock nuts fit the 06 Series (106, 206, 306, 406) and the 07 Series (107, 207, 307, 407) canister filters. Fluval's 06 Series parts list names this number and the same nut carries into the 07 Series.
How many nuts come in the pack?
Two, which covers the intake and output sides of one canister filter. A nut that has failed on one side is usually the same age as the other, so both are best done together.
Will the A20059 fit a Fluval 405 or 404?
Fluval's parts documentation lists the A20059 for the 06 and 07 Series only, and does not show it against the 04 or 05 Series. Compare the thread with your existing nut before ordering.
My filter still weeps with a new nut fitted. What else should I check?
The seal is made between the hosing and the barb, not by the nut. Hosing that has hardened or taken a permanent oval shape will keep weeping. Trim a couple of centimetres off the hose end, or replace the tubing and the rubber hose connector.
