Fluval 07 Impeller Cover 107
The part that keeps a rattling filter quiet.
This is the genuine Fluval impeller cover, part A20113, for the 107 canister filter. It is the small moulded cap that closes the impeller well in the underside of the motor head, holding the impeller and its ceramic shaft square to the pump housing. A cracked, warped or missing cover lets the impeller wander, and a wandering impeller is the noise you can hear from the next room.
Key features
- Genuine Fluval A20113 – Fluval publishes this cover for the 107 alone, so the locating tabs and bore match that motor head exactly.
- Fixes the rattle – a loose impeller taps the housing on every rotation. Locating it properly is the difference between a filter you can hear and one you cannot.
- Protects the ceramic shaft – the cover carries the outer end of the shaft. Without it the shaft takes side load and both the shaft and the impeller wear out early.
- Restores lost flow – an impeller running off-axis moves less water, so a filter can sound wrong and polish badly at the same time.
- Fits by hand – twist-lock into the impeller well, no tools and no lubricant.

Will it fit my filter?
The impeller cover is one of the few 07 parts where the two smallest filters differ from each other. The 107 and 207 share a canister footprint and the same 10 W pump rating, but they do not share this cover.
| Filter | Impeller cover part number | Same as the 107? |
|---|---|---|
| Fluval 107 | A20113 | Yes – this part |
| Fluval 207 | A20133 | No |
| Fluval 307 | A20148 | No |
| Fluval 407 | A20148 | No |
A20113 fits the 107 and nothing else in the range. If you have a 207 you need the A20133 cover for the 207; the 307 and 407 both take the A20148 cover.
Which impeller cover do I need?
Check the model number on the motor head rather than guessing from the canister size, because the 107 and 207 look almost identical from the outside.
| Filter | Aquarium capacity | Filter circulation | Cover |
|---|---|---|---|
| 107 | 40–130 L | 360 L/h | A20113 (this part) |
| 207 | 60–220 L | 460 L/h | A20133 |
| 307 | 90–330 L | 780 L/h | A20148 |
| 407 | 150–500 L | 930 L/h | A20148 |
What's included
- 1 x impeller cover for the Fluval 107
Not included
- The impeller and ceramic shaft. The magnet, vanes, shaft and rubber bushings are a separate Fluval part – see the 107/207 impeller with ceramic shaft.
- The motor head. See the 107 motor head if the housing itself is damaged.
- The motor head gasket O-ring – part A20038, the head gasket.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for a 107 with a cracked or brittle cover, one lost during a service, or one whose locating tabs have snapped so it no longer twists home. Also worth replacing on any 107 that has been noisy since its last clean.
Not suitable for the 207, 307 or 407, or for the 105, 106, 205 or 206. It will not silence a filter whose noise is coming from trapped air, a worn ceramic shaft, or an impeller with a chipped vane – inspect all three while you have the head open.
Care and maintenance
Fluval's service interval for the impeller well is every three months. Pull the cover, lift the impeller out, and clean the well and the vanes with a soft brush.
Check the cover for hairline cracks each time. A cover that has gone chalky and stiff will usually split the next time it is twisted home, and that is the service where a rattle appears from nowhere.
Refit it dry. Grease or silicone on the shaft bore attracts grit and does nothing useful.
Goes well with
- 107/207 impeller with ceramic shaft and bushings – replace as a pair if the filter has been noisy for a while
- Ceramic impeller shaft with rubber bushing (A20039) – shared across the 06 and 07 series
- Motor head gasket O-ring (A20038) – renew any time the head comes off
- 07 primer assembly – for a filter that has become hard to restart after a service
Warranty and delivery
Supplied as a genuine Fluval replacement part. Fluval does not quote a separate warranty term on moulded service parts. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply in full and nothing here limits them. Ships as a standard small parcel anywhere in Australia.
Common questions
Does the Fluval A20113 impeller cover fit a 207?
No. The 207 uses A20133, a different cover, even though the 107 and 207 share a canister footprint and the same 10 W pump rating. A20113 is for the 107 only.
My Fluval 107 has started rattling. Is the impeller cover the cause?
It is one of three likely causes. Check the cover for cracks and for tabs that no longer lock, inspect the ceramic shaft for wear, and look for a chipped impeller vane. Trapped air after a service produces a different, gurgling sound.
Can I run the 107 without the impeller cover?
Not for long. The cover locates the outer end of the ceramic shaft, so without it the impeller runs off-axis, moves less water and wears both the shaft and the pump housing.
Is the impeller included with this cover?
No. This is the cap that closes the impeller well. The impeller, its ceramic shaft and the rubber bushings are a separate Fluval part number.
How often should the impeller well be cleaned?
Fluval specifies every three months. Sludge in the well is a common cause of a filter that starts quietly and grows noisy over a few weeks.
