Fluval 07 Primer Assembly 107 - 407
Restores one-press priming on a 07-series canister that has stopped drawing water.
This is the genuine Fluval primer assembly with cover, part A20126, for the 107, 207, 307 and 407 canister filters. It is the plunger and seal in the motor head that pulls water into the canister on start-up. A stiff, cracked or leaking primer is one of the most common reasons a Fluval 07-series filter will not self-prime after a media change or a long shutdown.
Key features
- Genuine Fluval A20126 – the exact primer assembly and cover fitted to the 107, 207, 307 and 407 motor head, not a generic substitute.
- Assembly and cover supplied together – the plunger and its housing are a matched pair, so the seal is correct from the first press.
- Restores self-priming – a soft, split or gritty primer means the filter needs manual priming, or will not draw at all.
- Direct fit, no tools – lifts out of the motor head and clips back in by hand.

The 107 and 207 are rated 40–130 L and 60–220 L, with pump output of 550 and 780 L/h. The 307 and 407 step up to 90–330 L and 150–500 L, at 1,150 and 1,450 L/h pump output. This primer does not fit the 06-series (106/206/306/406) or the earlier 04/05-series power filters – those use a different motor head and primer.
What's included
- 1 x primer assembly
- 1 x primer cover
Not included
- The motor head itself. This part fits inside the existing head; it does not replace it.
Suitable for, and not suitable for
Suitable for a 107, 207, 307 or 407 that will not self-prime, has a stiff or spongy primer button, or is weeping at the primer seal after a service. Not suitable for the 06-series or the earlier 04/05-series filters, and it will not fix low flow caused by clogged media or an airlock elsewhere in the plumbing.
Care and maintenance
Press the primer several times at each filter service to check it returns fully and holds a seal. A primer that stays depressed or feels gritty is usually gathering debris around the O-ring rather than failing outright – rinse it in tank water before assuming it needs replacing.
Goes well with
- 07 basket cover (107/207) – keeps loose media out of the primer well and impeller housing
- 06/07 ceramic impeller shaft and bushing – check together if flow is still weak once priming is fixed
- 107/207 intake and output kit – for brittle stems and nozzles feeding the primer well
Warranty and delivery
Supplied as a genuine Fluval replacement part. Your rights under the Australian Consumer Law apply in full and nothing here limits them. No separate manufacturer warranty term is quoted on moulded service parts. Ships as a standard small parcel anywhere in Australia.
Common questions
Does the A20126 primer fit the Fluval 106 or 206?
No. The 06-series uses a different motor head and primer assembly. A20126 is specific to the 107, 207, 307 and 407.
Why won't my 07-series filter self-prime even with a new primer fitted?
Check for an airlock in the intake and output hoses first, and make sure the intake strainer is fully submerged. A new primer only fixes a seal that has failed, not an air leak elsewhere in the plumbing.
Can I fit this myself?
Yes. It clips into the motor head without tools, so there is no need to send the filter away for a service.
Is the cover sold separately from the primer?
No. A20126 is supplied as the primer and its cover together as one assembly.
