Marina Fish Net Breeder Box
Keeps fry, sick or newly added fish safe without a second tank.
The Marina Fish Net Breeder Box is a fine-mesh net enclosure that hangs inside your main aquarium, giving fry, weak fish or new arrivals their own protected space while still sharing the main tank's water. Water moves freely through the mesh so oxygen and temperature stay matched to the display tank, without the stress of a full quarantine setup.
Key features
- Fine mesh netting – lets water flow through freely, keeping oxygen levels up around the occupants.
- In-tank isolation – separates fry, sick fish or pregnant livebearers from the general population without a second aquarium.
- No extra plumbing or power – sits inside the existing tank and uses the tank's own water and temperature.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Isolating fry after a livebearer gives birth, so they aren't eaten by tankmates.
- Giving a sick or injured fish a calm, separate space to recover in, while still sharing the main tank's water chemistry.
- Not a substitute for a proper quarantine tank when treating disease with medication – dosing the main tank affects every fish in it.
Care and maintenance
Rinse the mesh in aquarium water – never tap water or soap – between uses, and check it regularly for a build-up of waste that can reduce water flow through the mesh.
Goes well with
- A turkey baster or fry net, for gently moving small fish in and out.
- A small floating thermometer, to confirm the breeder box sits away from any heater hot-spot.
Warranty and delivery
Covered by Marina's standard warranty against manufacturing defects, in addition to your rights under the Australian Consumer Law. Standard freight applies.
Common questions
Will fry escape through the mesh?
No – the mesh is fine enough to hold newborn livebearer fry while still letting water pass through.
Does it need an air stone or filter?
No. It relies on water exchange through the mesh with the main tank, so no separate filtration or aeration is needed.
Can I use it in a saltwater tank?
Marina markets this as a general aquarium accessory rather than a marine-specific product. If you're isolating marine fish or invertebrates, contact us first, as saltwater isolation usually calls for different equipment.
