Ocean Nutrition Chopped Krill Pacifica
Chopped Pacific krill sized for small to medium fish rather than the largest tank mates. Ocean Nutrition Frozen Chopped Krill Pacifica is a single-ingredient frozen food made from Euphausia pacifica, the smaller of the two krill species the manufacturer freezes, supplied as a 100g blister of chopped pieces that suit a broader range of mouth sizes than the whole animal would.
Key features
- Single ingredient – krill pacifica only.
- Smaller krill species – Pacific krill run around 1.5–2.0 cm before chopping, noticeably smaller than Antarctic krill superba.
- Chopped format – pieces are easier for small to medium fish to take than a whole animal.
- Natural carotenoids – krill carries natural astaxanthin, the pigment associated with colour enhancement in many fish.
- Marine and freshwater – suits fish and crustaceans in either water type.

Suitable for, and not suitable for
- Suitable for small to medium marine and freshwater fish, and for fish-keeping crustaceans, per the manufacturer.
- Not a complete standalone diet – best rotated with a staple flake, pellet or other frozen food.
- Not the best choice for very large predatory fish, which will get through a pack quickly for little bite size – Krill Superba suits them better.
How to thaw and feed
Break off a portion from the blister and thaw it in a little tank water before feeding. Never refreeze a thawed portion – feed it or discard it. Keep the remaining pack frozen, and if it arrives partly thawed on a warm day, move it to your freezer immediately and use it promptly rather than refreezing.
Which Ocean Nutrition frozen food should I feed?
| Food | Animal size | Best suited to |
|---|---|---|
| Chopped Krill Pacifica (this product) | Chopped, from ~1.5–2 cm animals | Small to medium marine and freshwater fish |
| Brine Shrimp | ~1 cm | Small community fish, nano fish, most freshwater and marine species |
| Chopped Cockle | Chopped | Larger predatory marine and freshwater fish |
| Chopped Krill Superba | Chopped, from ~5 cm animals | Medium to large marine and freshwater fish |
If your fish already take Krill Superba comfortably, Pacifica has little to add – it's the step below Superba for fish that aren't quite there yet.
Warranty and delivery
There is no manufacturer warranty on a consumable food item; the consumer guarantee under Australian Consumer Law – that the product is of acceptable quality and matches its description – applies as it would to any packaged food. Transfer the pack to your own freezer as soon as it arrives.
Frozen food is pick up only from our North Lakes store, because a pack that thaws on the way cannot be refrozen.
Common questions
What's the difference between Krill Pacifica and Krill Superba?
Pacifica is the smaller Pacific species, around 1.5–2.0 cm before chopping; Superba is the larger Antarctic species, around 5 cm before chopping. Pick Pacifica for smaller mouths.
Will krill enhance my fish's colour?
Krill naturally contains astaxanthin, a carotenoid pigment often associated with colour in fish that eat it, though results vary by species.
How often should I feed it?
2 to 5 times a day, offering only what will be eaten within about 5 minutes.
Can crustaceans in my tank eat this?
The manufacturer lists crustaceans alongside fish as suitable recipients.
Can I refreeze a thawed portion?
No – once thawed, feed it or discard it.
